Review for Olay Total Effects Cleansing Whip Facial Cleanser - 3 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 2
So I tried the Olay total effects cleansing whips cleansesr polishing cream cleanser..as I received it from influenster free.. in exchange for an honest review for a contest. If you read my post about the Olay brightening eye cream with niacinamide or Vitamin B3, I noted that the first 4 or 5 ingredients in a product usually make up 85% of that product.

However, these ingredients come right after the 5th ingredient and are really good for your skin , and I am impressed at how high up the list they still are: green tea, vitamin E, vitamin B5/panthenol, B3/ niacinamide.

Niacinamide is wonderful for your skin as a moisturizer and for brightening and recovering from dark spots left over from acne or sunspots.

Vitamin E is already in your skin and is great for your skin for having a healthy Skin Barrier and it is moisturizing, as is vitamin B5 / panthenol.

It says it has fragrance, and it smelled very very fresh to me which was a very refreshing nice light scent that did not linger after I rinsed my face. I do not believe this is natural fragrance (from Plants) though, so it may bother you if you are sensitive to fragrances .. though it is not overwhelming or obnoxious. I really liked the scent.

I did like the whipped texture which was very foamy without stripping my face too much, though I can get oily or be combination other times, so this is something that I would use, Except for one thing that I was not impressed with, which is the scrubbing beads.

My personal preference is to exfoliate using acids like acidic toners (or enzymes) because scrubbing beads are generally bad for the environment, though I'm not sure about the beads they used. I think they are jojoba beads instead of plastic beads, which is natural and not a bad for the environment, but the problem with them in this formulation is that they did not put enough in to get good exfoliation, and that is not something I could use since I use acids.

- If you are going to exfoliate- you need to use either/or as far as it goes with acids and manual exfoliation/scrubbing. It is not good to do both, so if you use any acids in your daily regimen this might not work out for you.. and, since the beads are so sparsely dispersed in this cleanser, if you do like to exfoliate using scrubbing beads I don't think this will do a good job for you because there are just not enough beads in the concentration. (They kind of only went halfway in that direction.)

I did think this did a good job cleansing on combination skin and would be good for dry skin and combination, and maybe oily. (I have been combination lately and it has been good for that, but this is not something I would recommend for someone with sensitive skin, because of the scrubbing beads, even though they are very small and sparsely disbursed.

Overall this is a great product as far as ingredients, packaging, how easily it foams, and, would be good for several skin types, but do know that it's not going to be great as an exfoliator -even used daily.. because there just are not beads for good exfoliation in the product.

And remember- if you have sensitive skin, if you scrub much with this, the few beads that there are in it may irritate your skin, as well as the fragrance ingredient.

Overall, I gave this 4 stars because I think a lot of people could use it.. and I only didn't give it 5 stars because of the scrubbing beads. Otherwise I think it would be a great product and would have given it five stars. #influenster #contest

Review for Olay Eyes Brightening Eye Cream for Dark Circles - 3 weeks, 4 days ago

Hello, I am 39 years old and tend to get combination/ oily skin and usually like a light eye cream or at least one that will absorb quite easily. I also studied how to read ingredient labels and the following are my opinions on this product from trying it a couple of times, and giving my review in exchange for trying the product for free from influenster for a contest:

Unfortunately after trying it a couple of times I found that it was quite heavy feeling and did not absorb as easily as I would have liked.

I was reading the ingredients and though it does have some good ingredients.. the first impressive ingredient was niacinamide and it was number 6 on the list.

When you are reading an ingredient list for cosmetics and skincare, generally the rule of thumb is that the first four or five ingredients make up about 80 to 90% of the product. Disappointing to find out, I know. So niacinamide which is vitamin B3 was the sixth ingredient, with caffeine being the 7th, and the map version vitamin C as the next. #contest #influenster
Much further down the list- (as we know farther down the list we go the less there is of those ingredients. In fact, most ingredients towards the bottom of the list or if they are listed after Aloe or salicylic acid.. they are usually at 1% or less most of the time).

So there towards the middle and bottom of the list the ingredients I would have liked to be there in higher concentrations (such as green tea), was near the bottom.

Note-It is still somewhat impressive that vitamin C is in there in two different forms with the more stable map version of vitamin C being towards the top of the list along with niacinamide- which is vitamin B3, and is great for your skin as far as brightening and moisture and protecting your moisture barrier, were near the top.

Green tea and the less stable form of vitamin C- which is more potent and can be irritating- is in the form of ascorbic acid and that one is also near the bottom of the list, but- there is good reason for ascorbic acid being near the bottom of the list.. because as I said, it could be irritating to some people so I would guess it is only around 1 or 2% of the product.

So, onto my experience.. when I opened it; it is a white cream that does not really have a scent at all, and I did notice it was a little heavier of an eye cream than I look for.. but it would be great for people with dry skin and probably normal skin- but maybe not best for people who tend to get oily or want something to absorb very quickly- because this did take awhile to absorb. A good thing is that a little does go quite a long way.. so do know that when you apply it, or you will end up trying to wipe some off with a paper towel LOL. This is a good thing because this should last you for a very long time.

When I tried this I used my regular 20% vitamin C serum which is combined of ascorbic acid and MAP vitamin C on my left eye, and I used the Olay brightening eye cream on my right eye to see how brightening it would be. Unfortunately, on me, the side that had the eye cream on it was not nearly as bright as my regular vitamin C serum was. In fact, I did not notice any change at all with this test done 3 days in a row on the eye with the eye cream from Olay .

It was highly moisturizing though.. and when I was laying in bed tonight I started touching under my eyes and did notice that the left eye where I used vitamin C only, did feel less plump than my right eye- where I use the Olay eye brightening cream. That is definitely a good thing! Maybe with more time I would see more effects. I do believe that part of the immediate effect a lot of people get for brightening comes from Mica.. which is a reflective mineral often used in mineral makeup, and it is in the ingredients list for this eye cream also.

Review for Simple Facial Wipes, Micellar, 25 ct [Micellar] - 3 weeks, 5 days ago
I absolutely love these wipes! I don't even need to wash my face anymore now that my skin is clear and they are wonderful even if you have oily skin to get you clean in the morning and help take off makeup at night, but I do not wear makeup so I can use them twice a day instead of washing my face and using apple cider vinegar toner and my face stays clear. I would probably suggest if you have dry skin using the hydrating version, because I am 39 years old with oily skin and these leave me feeling very clean and possibly a tad bit dry now that my skin is not as oily as it was so these are really good for combo and oily skin. They leave no residue and they do not have a smell at all and they are very saturated.

This is actually the second mineral makeup- or makeup at all - that I ever wore.. and I loved it! I could sleep in it and not get a break out and it did not contribute to oil on my face. I have oily skin and no wrinkles yet, but it wore very well and it looked natural and had buildable good coverage. I did not like that it was messy- if it turned upside down in your purse you would get much too much in the pot to use without making a mess. It is wonderful if you are at acne prone though. I love that there is SPF in this as well but wish it was at least a 30.

Review for e.l.f. Acne Fighting Spot Gel with Aloe - 1 month ago

This stuff is great! First off, it is only $2 so I bought a double pack online and I keep 1 on my bedside table and 1 in the bathroom. It has salicylic acid which is great for getting through oil and cleaning out your pores as well as exfoliation, and it has aloe and it smells like it may have alcohol also- which is usually used as a preservative. This is a great spot treatment to use before a pimple patch.

I love Bare Minerals because it is really good for acne-prone skin, and you can even sleep in it without breaking out - at least I can. Once is a pretty good Universal shade for blush and to give a little color around the face. This is a really great product.

I absolutely love this deodorant. Well I put it on after my shower I can still smell it and next morning when I wake up and I still smell fresh and clean. It feels good on and just slightly moisturizing that the only problem is it will leave marks on your clothes.

These opinions are mine and mine alone. I bought this product with my own money with high expectations after reading reviews online. I was really disappointed because I hate the feel of liquid foundation on my face and this felt like that but much worse. It was extremely far to moisturizing for my skin type which is combination oily. And if you rub it in to the point where it doesn't feel wet on your face and heavy, the tent rubs in with it and it looks like you do not have it on at all. Even when your face feels wet with it on and not really rubbed in, it gives hardly any coverage at all. Very sheer, almost no coverage contrary to the reviews I read.

Review for: Exposed more...
I got this in a beauty subscription box that I subscribed to and pay for and these opinions are mine and mine alone. I found that this was a good color but there were a lot of blushes that looked the same and functions the same for way less cost. This did not break me out but then my cheeks never do break out from the cheap blush either. I gave it to stars because it is a good brand but the staying power was similar to a generic blush I was already using and the cost was so high. I would never have bought it even after trying it due to the cost when there are blushes that are just as good for about $10 at the drugstore. I do not recommend this, save your money for a good medium to full coverage nonacnegenic foundation that is good for your skin.
