I wasnt sure about Diaper Genie at first because of some reviews but we are so glad we received this as a gift. We were going to purchase one that cost a lot more money but when we got this, we decided not to. Odor control is great when closed and it is easy to assemble. Refills are also easy to do although at first i was a little confused. Would recommend.

We received this as a gift, I can't say that I would have purchased it otherwise. It was easy to assembly and it is easy to refill - I have found any off brand refill works just as well as the name brand. My daughter is still breast fed so the odour is not too bad. It works ok at containing odours. Do I think this is necessary? Honestly, no. We live in an apartment so could easily throw out diapers at the end of each day. This just allows you to save them up and throw out after a few days.

I owned a diaper genie forr my first 4 babies. With my fifth son, I finally broke out of the marketing trance that I have been in there for all thesd years and said "you know what , I don't need this and I don't even like this product.". And just like that, and the chains were lifted. Here are a few reasons that I am not a fan of the diaper genie: *They end up being more work than would a conventional trash can *More often than not, the soil diapers get stuck and you have to make a concerted effort to stuff them down *They can be very difficult, if not downright dangerous to operate while your infant is still on it's changing table (even with hands-free, I recommend putting your infant someplace secure and off of the changing table before attempting to deposit the soiled diaper in this pail) *Does not necessarily prevent or hide odors, in fact I can promise you that it absolutely stinks to high heaven *Not strictly sanitary *You have to purchase specialty bag rolls that fit in this machine making it an expense when money made already be tight I feel that diaper genies are an unnecessary expensive that new parents can do without.
