Review for Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
This translucent powder is perfect if you have an oily t-zone like I do. I don’t typically use it in the winter months but I use it religiously in the summer months especially in humid weather. Most finishing powders I’ve tried have left me looking cakey even when I apply with a light hand, but this one doesn’t. This powder just melts into my skin and keeps me looking like I did my makeup minutes ago.

Review for Clean & Clear® Advantage® Acne Spot Treatment - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Target
This is a good spot treatment to use whenever those annoying zits that pop up. I use this spot treatment the minute I feel a new zip coming in and usually when I wake up the next morning I have no more redness and the zit has disappeared. This does have a tendency to dry out your skin so only use a little and only in the affected area. I’ve also noticed that sometimes it’ll cause a burning or tingling sensation if I use a little too much in one spot; but I deal with it because this product really does zap away my zits and does so quickly. I like using a q-tip so there’s no worry of me contaminating and spreading bacteria from spot to spot on my face.

Review for ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter - 5 months, 2 weeks ago

Review for: Wisp (golden champagne with gold pearls with pearlized finish) more...
This highlighter is one that I find myself using no matter what the occasion. I got the shade Wisp, which is a pretty champagne gold color with a subtle sparkle. I use a fan brush to apply this for a more subtle glow but I imagine that you can apply with your fingers for a more intense look. I would easily recommend this product to those looking for a versatile highlighter. Colourpop does recommend tightly closing the lid to prevent the product from drying out as it is a cream highlighter but I haven’t noticed any issues with that so far. I would definitely repurchase this product!

Review for: Between the Sheets more...
I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of Colourpop’s products. I received this blush as part of a duo with one of their highlighters and I love both. I don’t have much experience with cream blushes but this blush is very user friendly. I apply it with a flat topped brush and it goes on easily and looks natural on me. The color is a very pretty nude shade that I feel would complement everyone. I’ve already hit pan on my pot but for the price I can’t complain. I will definitely be repurchasing and I would definitely consider buying more of these blushes from them.

Review for tarte™ Amazonian clay full coverage foundation SPF 15 - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Sephora
This foundation has worked extremely well for me. I have oily skin on my t-zone and I was surprised at the staying power of this foundation. The Amazonian Clay foundation has a wider shade range than some of tarte’s other foundations (😒 @ you, Shape Tape Foundation), so if you’re looking for something that has a higher chance of matching your skin color—this would be your best bet from this brand. As a full disclaimer, I do feel like those with deeper skin tones might still have some difficulty shade matching, as tarte has never been super great about including darker skin colors in their foundation ranges. However, that is a gripe I have with the company and with the makeup industry as a whole; the foundation itself performs as advertised and stays matte on me even 8-9 hours after application. I did knock off one star because I would not consider this foundation to be full coverage—I do still have to go in with my concealer to cover any breakouts or dark circles. Ultimately, I would repurchase as I feel that this foundation is one of the only ones that doesn’t slip off because of my oily skin.

Review for Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: ULTA
Everything I ever need in an eyeshadow is here in the Naked 3. This is their predominantly rose gold and mid-tone nudes range and I’ve found that it seems to suit all skin tones. The colors are a good mix of satins, shimmers, and mattes so building lots of different looks is very easy. These colors are also very buildable and something about Urban Decay’s shadow formula makes them very easy to blend. The packaging is sturdy and I’ve thrown this palette in my checked luggage and carry on luggage and it’s still going strong. The brush included is a little meh, but I didn’t buy this palette for the brush so I don’t consider that enough reason to knock off a star. I would recommend this palette for anyone who is looking to find beautiful but wearable everyday shadows.

Review for Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Sephora
This is a fairly good decongesting face mask—I use this mask about once a week and I feel like that is enough for me. I have noticed that my skin is a little irritated after I use this mask and it does leave red patches on the areas I apply it. However, it does do as advertised and clears out the nastiness in my pores. Another issue I have with this mask is how messy it is. The formula is slippery and you’ll need to wipe the excess off with a washcloth after you rinse to totally get rid of the black residue. Also make sure to rinse out your sink afterwards since this product can stain white porcelain. I wouldn’t repurchase this mask, simply because it does cause a stinging sensation and redness. I do think that there are other masks that can provide the same type of decongesting qualities without the uncomfortable sensation.

Review for boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
I don’t have anything particularly negative to say about this product other than the fact that I think it’s incredibly overpriced. It does its job well and it provides me with the mild physical exfoliation I was looking for, but you can get this exact same product at Daiso for $2. I would consider repurchasing this product if the quality or effectiveness was above and beyond other brands’ but it’s just simply not. I do recommend konjac sponges as a skincare tool, but you can definitely shop for the same product elsewhere for a more reasonable price.

Review for Dr. Jart+ Shake & Shot(TM) Rubber Masks Soothing 1 mask - 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Sephora
I found this product at my local Sephora and had to pick it up— mostly because the packaging was so bizarre. This particular one claims to soothe any sort of irritation on my skin and I thought it’d be perfect to try after my twice weekly physical exfoliation. The product comes in two pre-portioned packages that you’ll need to pour and mix in the cup—that straw is actually a paddle mixer you can use to stir the mix until it gets to the right consistency. Overall, I thought this product was a fun departure from the common sheet masks that are so popular nowadays. The mixture had a slight cooling sensation on my skin and I enjoyed the process of peeling it off once it dried. I will say that spreading this on your face is a messy process, but I didn’t feel like it detracted from the overall experience. As for the soothing claims—my skin did feel dewy and soft after I peeled off the mask, but I wouldn’t say that it soothed my skin at all. For a mask on the pricier side, I did have higher expectations that it would deliver on its claims. I wouldn’t repurchase this particular version, but I’d be open to trying the other Shake & Shot masks that Dr. Jart+ offers.
