Hello! My name's Casey and I enjoy trying new beauty products and I must admit that I am a beauty addict. I have a really bad habit of spending lots of $$$ when I know something I buy is good quality. I'm obsessed with makeup most of all and I would love to create my own cosmetic line someday. I look forward to trying out new products and looking good.
So since ulta has started selling the line in some select stores, and I didn't have to go to the ghetto Walmart where they had a mostly picked out and messy selection, I've been wanting to try this formula of liquid matte. I've heard some mixed reviews saying that this is more like a soft matte lip cream than a true ultramatte finish liquid lipstick that won't budge at all. I got bare honey thinking it would be a perfect every day office nude pink on me but it's a bit more of a paler pink nude that is nearing the border of concealer which isn't necessarily bad as it still has some pink in it. I also love the cool water feeling as I apply it. Isn't as long lasting as a budge proof liquid matte, more like a regular bullet matte lip that transfers a little but that makes it easier to remove and apply it again. It sets fully after a while but I can blot the excess off to make it dry quicker.
I know this should be given low stars for me but not exactly a 1. It dries too quickly and the areas where I didn't blend it well leave behind a dry and white chalky cast. I shouldn't say I shouldn't wear this with my clay based silicone foundation I'm wearing now cause I chose another water based primer and it seems to make my foundation hold up well without breaking down after 4 hours. It breaks me out though because everytime I wear this, I get a few painful breakouts from where I applied it which are oilier areas like my cheeks and tzone. I've stopped using it and my skin hasn't broken out since. Thank god I only got a small sample of it in a 500 pt reward from sephora
So since Ulta "soft-launched" colourpop with super shock shadows and highlighters, as well as 12 shades of ultra matte liquid lipsticks which are some bestsellers, I was excited to finally get these in store, since I don't online shop. I got bumble which is a pretty berry rose color on my fair skin that is more work safe, and creeper, which is a gorgeous bright blue red that flatters my skintone and blue eyes. Unfortunately, like many brands of liquid lipsticks, the formulas are inconsistent between the two. Bumble dries fully matte and lasted through lunch, while creeper doesn't dry completely and transferred a bit of color, and it leaves a hot pink stain when I take it off, and the stain has to be scrubbed off using a lip scrub to remove. Unfortunately I prefer Kat von ds underage red liquid lipstick that is almost an exact dupe to creeper.
Possibly one of the best lip scrubs I've ever used! I've used some so called "scrubs" that barely have any scrubbing bits in them (sephora collection I'm talking to you!) This one is made up of purely sugar scrubbing bits as well as hydrating oils like coconut. It goes fast, however, but the price of it is great at 3 bucks. I need another tube.
After deciding against buying a 48 dollar peeling exfoliator, I decided to save some money and get this. I needed a deep exfoliation where i can literally feel the difference after. I love how the scrubby bits are rough enough to scrape away the dead skin layer and yet are gentle enough to not make my sensitive face tomato red and irritated. This preps my face well for flawless makeup application and makes it feel baby skin smooth. It's a bit hard to wash it all off so it's best used in the shower to get it all off. Plus it also doubles as a cleanser which means I don't have to irritate my sensitive skin by washing it after.
My HG everyday work safe pinky nude. I got wifey as my first tube a while back but it was too pale for my taste and it would've suited a medium skin tone more. This shade just has enough pink in it to not make me look like a corpse. I love the chocolate vodka smell and I love how comfortable it is on my lips compared to other drying liquid matte formulas *coughabhcough* it is a bit tacky right after it sets, not as sticky as some certain brands longwear liquid matte is, but that means it is moisturizing enough to move with my lips and not crack as the day goes on. The inner lip line does fade away but which lipstick doesn't, as saliva touches it and the enzymes in it break it down. Also I can put a bit of gloss on top and doesn't completely break down and bleed outside of my lip line. Unfortunately it's such a hot product that it's often not restocked for a while, as was the case a few months ago..
I read about these and how they got good reviews. I've been meaning to try this formula out so I went to my nearest kohls from work and grabbed 2 (the tubes were in weird plastic security boxes cause women manage to open the tubes out of their boxes and swatch them, therefore drying them out/contaminating them. The colors I got were an everyday pinky nude called committed, and a sexy true red called loyal. I love how the names are named after traits of an ideal boyfriend, especially now that I'm single atm. The formula is one of the best I've ever tried, though it goes on streaky requiring more than one coat to make it even, and it does get sticky before it sets completely, and it dries to a transfer proof finish after it completely dries. I recommend it!
My boyfriend got me this for Christmas. Was a bit disappointed cause I thought it would look too dark on me. He wanted to get one for me so I can try out the formula. It is a bit dark on me in some light and more bright on me in the sun. I'd save it for something like a hot Valentine's Day date night where I would really get hot and heavy. It certainly lasts through a heavy makeout with none transferring to his lips which he was happy about that. I've heard it was really sticky but it is before it dries down, and the stick factor disappears, unlike the maybelline superstay matte ink which remains sticky long after it dries, which I was afraid it would be, but my fears were unfounded. I was worried that it would only be removed with the brands own lip whip remover but I found that the urban decay dissolving makeup spray easily took it off, and with coconut oil it does eventually get it off. And if you apply too much, it takes more time to dry, so apply thin coats (don't worry about the patchiness-it settles to full coverage) after each layer that dried
I remember getting a tube of this a year or so ago in kitten heels and I remember it being such a mess when applying it because it caked on easily and was tacky and never set to a matte finish cause of the tackiness. I decided to try it again after the new shades were released which means more often than not a reformulation as well. I got soft spoken as a good fall/winter everyday work nude pink color and kitten heels for a date night and holidays coming up. I apply it now and it's much more thin and smoothly applying and it now sets to a matte finish which is less tacky than it was previously. They're also really comfortable and it feels like nothing on my lips with less caking. I'm glad they redid their product cause it's so much better now!
I saw that the Walmart I went to with my bf who usually goes to this location had the whole shade range, so I decided to get these because I heard these dry completely and wanted to try them. I got the pinky nude shade forget me not and the classic red tulip shade. I tried on tulip and was really disappointed to know that these are more like soft matte cream lipstick in a tube and doesn't really dry down to a transfer proof matte, so I can't kiss my bf with it on unless he wants red lipstick all over his face. Plus if I put on a lot it cakes up uncomfortably on my inner lip line. I'd have to wear these when I'm not with my bf, so these are more for older ladies who have mature lined lips that drying matte lipstick makes them look worse. I do love the cute packaging and the colors tho
