Review for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children) - 1 year, 5 months ago
Bookworm Expert Level 4
Just finished this the other day and quite enjoyed it! The book stems from the author collecting (and collaborating with other collectors) of old photos found at flea markets and garage sales. These eerie and unusual finds are sprinkled throughout the book and were the inspiration for the story. A modern Gothic tale, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will spark the imagination and take you on an adventure. While the book is YA, don't let that stop you from turning the page!
Review for The Great British Bake Off - 1 year, 5 months ago
Pop Culture Expert Level 4
You know how American food competition shows are about sabotage, scheming, and a lot of yelling? Well, the Great British Bake Off is the exact opposite of that. Everyone is kind and jovial, and more importantly they're phenomenal bakers. Set in the English countryside in a spacious lawn tent, this reality show takes you three challenges--Signature, Technical, and Showstopper--each with their own set of themes and pitfalls.  I find this show so soothing to watch. I get inspired to try new bakes and challenge myself in the kitchen. I've even bought a few of the cookbooks that tie in with the show to try my hand at the pastries and breads they create in the tent!
Review for tarte™ Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush - 1 year, 5 months ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 4
Review for: Exposed (Nude Pink), Paaarty (Nude), Sensual (Golden Nude) more...
Confession time:I'm a makeup addict. So when I tell you these are my favorite blushes in my collection, please believe that these are the best on the market. Tarte's Amazonian Clay blushes are soft, subtle, blendable shades that come in a variety of colors for a variety of skin tones. That said, if you want a bold vibrant blush, these will build-up nicely. I'm drawn to the nudes and pale corals, but they have more vibrant tones that are just as beautiful. The 12 hour claims are accurate too!

Review for Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Lengthening Mascara - 2 years ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 4
My best tip for this mascara is to buy the travel size version; they're usually ten dollars and are readily available at Ulta and Sephora. I love this mascara! I never wear false lashes but this mascara gives me the effect of lengthened, voluminous lashes so easily. The brush is a little big but it does a good job of not clumping your lashes together. If it matters to you, it's also important to note this mascara's wand is not a bristle wand, more like a hard silicone. It's not a deal breaker for me, but you should know that ahead of time if material of the wand matters to you.

Review for Ulta - 2 years ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 4
In contrast to Sephora, Ulta offers a range of both high end and drugstore products so it can be a one stop shop. I don't think the sales associates are typically as helpful, but perhaps that's just my experience. Their sales both online and in store are what makes this a valued retailer in my book.
Review for Sephora - 2 years ago
Beauty Junkie Expert Level 4
One of my favorite retailers for makeup and skincare. They have colors and products to suit every skin color or need, and the staff is always knowledgeable. You can get your high end brand fix there with ease but their in-house line is also good quality and good value.
Review for Julep Beauty Box - 2 years, 1 month ago
If you love nail polish this is such a fun subscription. Julep's beauty products are kind of hit or miss for me, but their nail polishes are really fun and are free of harsh or harmful chemicals. My favorite feature of this box is that you can skip a month if you want. So if the colors aren't for you, then your wallet doesn't have to pay the price.
Review for POPSUGAR Must Have Box - 2 years, 1 month ago
One of my favorite subscription boxes! You get a mix of fashion, food, beauty, and home goods every month for about $40. About twice a year they give you a book, which I love. But in general they give good brands and I've found some amazing products with this service. I think the fall boxes are my favorite of their curations every year, and I've been a subscriber for three years.
Review for Scentbird - 2 years, 1 month ago
This was a fun service to use and they are adding new scents regularly, but I ultimately stopped using Scentbird because it didn't have the brands I most wanted to try like Republic, Elizabeth & James, and Clean. For $15 a month, it's a good deal if you want to try to find your new scent though. They give you the perfect amount of perfume to try for a month in a travel ready atomizer. So that part was ideal.
