Review for Triple Paste Medicated Ointment For Diaper Rash - 2 months ago
Mega Parent Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Target
Nothing works as well as Triple Paste. It was originally recommended by our pediatrician after a nasty rash, and now I won’t use anything else on my child. It is powerful. However, it’s also super thick and hard to get out of fabrics, so be careful what you touch with this.
Review for California Baby Calendula™ Cream - 2 months ago
Mega Parent Expert Level 1
Purchased at: Target
Wonderfully soothing and moisturizing for the driest, most prickly baby skin- and it smells wonderful. I wish it was cheaper, but a little goes a long way, and I feel good about using this conscientiously-formulated product on my child.
Review for BEAUTY PIE™ JAPANFUSION™ Pure Transforming Cleanser - 3 months, 1 week ago
I never knew I could love a cleanser until I discovered Japanfusion. It has the most beautiful texture that changes in phases, going from a cream/gel to an oil as you gently rub it into your skin, until finally, after adding a bit of water, it becomes milky. I actually look forward to using this at the end of the day, and it does a beautiful job of gently removing my makeup and leaving my skin super soft and hydrated (never greasy). Granted, I don’t often wear mascara, and never heavy mascara, so I can’t speak to that, but it certainly removes layers of makeup and sunscreen with ease. I live in fear of running out of this.

Review for Plated - 3 months, 1 week ago
Foodie Expert Level 1
I did a ton of research when we decided to try a meal service and Plated was hands down the best option. My husband and I are somewhat adventurous eaters, our 3-year-old less so. Frankly a lot of the other companies’ menus lacked interest for us. I wanted meals we would be excited to make, that would take us out of our usual comfort zone. Plated definitely delivers (no pun intended). It’s the most expensive meal service we looked at, but the 2 portions per meal actually feed the 3 of us, often with enough for one of us to bring lunch to work the next day. I always look forward to our Plated box, and our long, packed weekdays are so much less stressful when we come home and immediately have a clear plan for dinner. With that being said, a few caveats - the timing can be a little off, and some of the recipe instructions are missing a bit of detail/finesse. And as I mentioned, it’s expensive. Some weeks are more exciting than others in terms of food options, but that comes down to personal preference. With that said, the food is super fresh and delicious. We haven’t had one bad meal in over a month of using Plated weekly, and have saved a number of recipes to make again ourselves. I’m loving Plated.

Review for The Ordinary. Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - 3 months, 1 week ago
This is a nice simple moisturizer. It does its job without any frills. The tube was smaller than I expected, but the price can’t be beat. I will update this with more extensive thoughts after I have been using it for a while.

Edited this when I realized autocorrect had changed “extensive” to “expensive” but it was too funny not to make a note of that. I do have expensive thoughts! 😂

Review for up & up Premium Cotton Ovals - 3 months, 1 week ago
Purchased at: Target
These are fine in a pinch, but almost too big - it feels wasteful to use them, frankly. They also pill significantly more than the regular up & up rounds and I end up with cotton all over my face.

Review for Glossier Lash Slick Mascara - 3 months, 1 week ago
The following review contains my first impressions of Lash Slick, as it just arrived yesterday.
My initial response was head over heels - I’ve never used such an amazingly natural mascara that makes my lashes look fabulous. At first I thought it was foolproof, but on the second day I did have some issues with clumping. It has also been a bit flaky. I am still giving this the benefit of the doubt, as I prefer a more natural look and this is one of the best mascaras I have ever used (though I’m not much of a mascara fan to begin with). I’m trying out different application techniques and will update this review again after a longer period of use. I do love the packaging and the shape of the brush, though I found it a little tricky to get into those hard to reach corners.

Review for Glossier Priming Moisturizer - 3 months, 2 weeks ago
This is a nice basic moisturizer. I have tried it twice now, in separate samples that came with my Glossier order. I like the simple packaging, and the lightweight, silky texture of the moisturizer is lovely. It does ostensibly create a good base for makeup, but I wouldn’t really consider it a primer. It doesn’t do anything for oil on my t zone or minimize pores. As I have to put spf on top of it anyways, the finish of the sunscreen is more important. An actual primer would go on top of the sunscreen, but I rarely ever use one. I definitely will not purchase this, certainly not for $22, unless they add sunscreen to it. With a 3-year-old and a FT job, I have a very limited amount of time to get ready in the morning, I would much prefer to use a sunscreen with moisturizing properties vs adding a nice but one note product to my routine. Also, I have combo skin and it feels like overkill to add a moisturizer on top of my serums that leave my skin pretty dewy. It’s not bad, it just seems superfluous.

Review for The Ordinary. Retinol 1% in Squalane - 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I eased into this slowly, having used up a bottle of each of the lower strength retinol and then, at first, using it every few days until I felt my skin could handle a nightly application. I’ve had no issues with peeling or irritation. It’s wonderfully lightweight, and really you can’t beat the price. If you try this, make sure you use a high spf sunscreen daily (regardless of how often you’re applying the retinol). It’s hard to say how exactly this is impacting my skin, as while I am seeing results, I’m using it in conjunction with a number of other strong anti-agers. However, the scientific benefits of retinol are conclusive, and Deciem has made an excellent retinol that is affordable for nearly anyone.
