Review for: Intense Midnight, Intense Black more...
Really surprised by this eyeliner. It's my mom's, and I thought I'd try it out for funsies. Although I dont like the self-sharpening mechanism because it never gets sharp enough to tight-line, it went on very smoothly and deeply pigmented. No pull, no flaking, etc. Would recommend in general.
Contact lens wearers, BEWARE!!!! This palette did a really weird thing to my contacts. The first time I wore this shadow, my eyes were crazy irritated. When I finally took my contacts out because I couldn't take it anymore, my contacts were freaking dyed PINK! It was nuts! I've been wearing contacts since I was in 5th grade, and eyeshadow every day since before high school, and this has NEVER happened to me. No matter how many times I tried to clean them, the color wouldn't come out. After soaking in contact solution overnight, they finally went back to normal, but the whole thing was seriously weird. I use HUDA BEAUTY The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette and nothing like that has ever happened, so the Obsessions line must be a different formula. Anyway, if you wear contacts, just be aware of this problem. I'm gonna give it another shot, but if it keeps happening, I will return it. As far as the shadows go, some of the shades were way too similar when I actually put them on. Plus, none of them were dark enough to add the kind of contour/definition I like in the outer crease. The pigmentation was good for the most part -- the pinks and oranges were beautiful -- and it is very blendable and easy to work with overall. Could be a little more pigmented, but that's okay. My main issue with this palette is probably just the contact lens thing.
LOVE the Beauty Blender for applying foundation. I'm not like one of those who thinks this is the be all, end all, holy grail status too, but it works really well and definitely gives a nice finish. The other sponge dupes are not even close. No comparison! Also, I find my coverage is more even, not at all streaky, and less dry-patchy when I use the Beauty Blender versus most brushes. Sometimes I have to smooth it out a little with a kabuki brush or something, but for the most part, the Beauty Blender does a good job. I don't use it for undereye concealer, though. I've found it doesn't work as well in that department. Oh, and it can be a real pain to clean, just fyi. It's freaking IMPOSSIBLE without the Beauty Blender solid cleanser, and even with that, it ain't easy, lemme tell ya. But overall, def worth the money and does a wonderful job at foundation application.
Angry Orchard is a good cider as far as cheap and widely available goes. It's very sweet, but the flavors are more distinguishable than they are in some of the other inexpensive ciders, so I think it's superior in that regard. I would buy again.
Crispin is a pretty decent cider. It's on the sweet side, and I don't find it as nuanced as some of the ciders from indy breweries (Crispin is a huge brand), but it's usually less expensive, so that's good. I think it's a good value, and would repurchase.
This is my absolute FAVORITE cider! I really love the addition of the hops - the hopiness balances out the sweetness perfectly. When I lived in Portland, I had the opportunity to try a TON of ciders, and this one was always my go-to. It's simply the best.
Brancott sauvignon blanc used to be my go-to for inexpensive New Zealand sauvs when I needed to save money but was really craving that dry, tropical and citrusy wine so characteristic of the Marlborough region. I used to get it delivered by Amazon Prime Now for only $7.99, which was an EXCELLENT value! If you're pinching pennies and this wine is available for under $10, go for it! (Unless Oyster Bay Wines Oyster Bay New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Wine is also under $10. Then I'd opt for that one.)
If you're looking for a Marlborough sauv at the convenience store/bodega/gas station, this might be as good as it's gonna get. It's definitely not my favorite, and I would NEVER pay more than like $7 for it, but as far as super cheap sauv blancs from NZ go, this will do.
