Word of the Day: Probiotics
noun | pro·bi·ah·tiks
a food or a dietary supplement containing live bacteria that replace or add to the beneficial bacteria normally present in the gastrointestinal tract.
You’re probably no stranger to probiotics in yogurt — they’re a friendly bacteria naturally found in your body that help promote a healthy gastrointestinal system. But though these benefits you’ve likely heard about are usually centered around your digestive system, they don’t just stop there. Incorporating probiotics into your diet also can help with recurring skin issues (including redness and eczema), allergies, and oral hygiene. And if you’re lactose intolerant or not a huge fan of yogurt, there are plenty of other ways to get in on the benefits of probiotics, from daily supplements to beauty products infused with the helpful bacteria.
There are three kinds of probiotic cultures in Chobani Greek Yogurt — Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, and Bifidus — that help support a healthy digestive system.
You can get your probiotics outside of yogurt, too — check out our picks below!
