#Girlboss: Meet 5 Women-Run Nail Brands
Who run the world?
If your nail polish collection has started to take over your vanity, it might be safe to say you're a polish addict. Let us be very clear: there is no shame in loving your polish. In fact, we support this collection fully. To help further add to your healthy obsession, we're sharing with you five of our favorite nail brands—women run nail brands, that is. We'll take our manicure with a side of girl power, please.
Manicurist to stars such as Lupita Nyong'o and Jennifer Lawrence, Deborah Lippmann knows nails. So, it makes perfect sense she have her own nail care line. Her colors are highly pigments, long-lasting, and have some of the most giggle-worthy names in the biz. Fun fact: Deborah is a talented jazz singer and still regularly performs!
Shade to try: Smoke Gets In Your Eyes ($20) is a limited edition blue creme that's brand new for winter. Pair this with a seasonal cocktail, and we venture you're all set for a night in—or out.
Fans of Hard Candy likely already know the name Dineh Mohajer. Dineh founded Hard Candy 20 years ago (cue nostalgia), and just a few years ago, she entered the nail game again with Smith & Cult. The luxe nail brand contains some of the most wearable and eye-catching shades we've seen. And that gold gilded topper can't be beat.
Shade to try: Lovers Creep ($18) is an opaque Bordeaux that just begs to be worn all winter.
Vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and made in the USA, Priti NYC is a staple backstage at New York and Paris Fashion Week. The high-end, eco-friendly nail brand never skimps on quality and delivers superior color. Founder, Kim D'Amato, founded Priti in 2005 after making the switch to organic foods and health products and realizing there weren't that many healthy options in beauty.
Shade to try: #362 Polish Spirit ($15) is a cool grape color that remains a center shade in the Winter 2017 collection.
College friends Aretha Sack and Janine Lee founded Floss Gloss in San Francisco in 2011 after bonding over, well, everything, including their mutual love for nails. Today, Floss Gloss has earned a name for itself in the nail world for being 7-free (free of seven major, harsh chemicals typically found in nail polish) and for having rare, unique colors.
Shade to try: New for this winter, Keys to the Mansion ($8), is a super glam, copper glitter polish. With flecks of rose gold glitter right inside the bottle, all of your rose gold dreams are about to come true.
Once dubbed "The Nail Guru," Jin Soon garnered quite the reputation as a nail artist before launching her eponymous nail line. Her simple yet elegant anesthetic has led to a 5-free, high-shine lacquer that is used on the red carpet, backstage at fashion week, and in many nail salons (including her own!) across the country.
Shade to try: You simply cannot go wrong with a classic red. Pop Orange ($18) is a rich cherry red named by model Edie Campbell. Just as Edie was known for her bold sixties style, Pop Orange delivers a classic color with a touch of high energy. And the shine factor is unbeatable.
Have you tried any of these brands? If so, which is your favorite color?
