Every now and then a product comes along that has us scratching our heads. But, being the curious, beauty-loving Influensters we are, we make it a point to scour the beauty blogs, peruse department stores, and talk to the best experts in the biz to learn everything we can to get to the bottom of it. The product that caught our eyes this week? Cleansing balms. We've spotted these jars popping up everywhere lately, so we knew we had to explore!
What is it: Cleansing balm
What it does: Think of cleansing balms as the big brother of a cleansing oil. Similar to a cleansing oil, which melts away makeup and cleanses skin in one step, a balm is a solid cleanser that liquefies upon contact with the skin. Typically, one dime-size amount of a cleansing balm is all you need to remove makeup and impurities and cleanse skin.
How to use it: Massage the balm into the palms of your hands and apply to your face. Depending on your cleansing balm formula, you can wash away the oil with water or a cleansing cloth.
Why we love it: A cleansing balm is definitely the next step for anyone who loves a good oil-based cleanser, however, what got us hooked on balm is its portability. The solid formula allows for easy travel and zero chance of spills or leaks. Plus, the balmy texture is highly nourishing and leaves skin silky smooth and is great for all skin types—including oily or acne-prone!
