Beauty Trend: Breathable Nail Polish
At some point in your life, someone has probably told you to take some time away from your beloved manicure to let your nails breathe. Now, whether you actually adhere to that nail health request or not is to be determined. (FYI, nails don't necessarily need to go polish-free to be healthy!) But thanks to a new trend taking over the nail world, you no longer have to forego your mani for healthy nails!
ORLY just launched a new line of nail polish, appropriately called Breathable, which allows air and moisture to reach the nail while you're wearing it. Yep, you read that correctly. The idea is simple: Instead of taking a break between polishes to let your nails get some air and (ideally) soak up nutrients from a vitamin-rich nail treatment—which let's be honest, not many people actually do— you can wear this treatment-and-polish combo to give your nails a breather and still rock color.
So how does this miracle polish work? The formula contains "advanced oxygen technology," according to the brand. This allows for oxygen and hydration to penetrate the polish, much like your trusty contact lenses. As if that wasn't enough, the formula also contains a whole slew of good-for-you ingredients such as argan oil, pro vitamin b5, and vitamin c so you get that treatment fix while rocking your color. Oh and no need for a base or top coat, there's one built right into this 18-polish line.
Another reason this product launch is gaining widespread attention is because this new Breathable line does not interfere with the Muslim practice of wudu or ablution—the Islamic practice of washing parts of the body prior to prayer. In fact, this type of porous nail polish has been gaining popularity among devout Muslims.
Although breathable nail polish is nothing new—Inglot Cosmetics launched its own line of breathable nail colors a few years back—we're excited to see this trend gaining popularity!
