The new year is upon is, and so are those resolutions to be a better you. We're all about that goal here at Influenster! In this week's edition of beauty dictionary, we're breaking down a centuries old practice of mind-body connection that can have a great impact on your health and beauty in 2017.
The word: Ayurveda
Also known as: connecting the mind and body to help improve your health and overall wellness
What it does: The mind and body connection of Ayurveda was created by the sages of India ages ago, but they still ring true today. The principles of the practice are actually quite simple: the mind and the body are connected and one can transform the body via the mind. There are even different dosha (energies) within the body that govern physiological health and once you focus on those energies, you can make great changes to your body. (Ayurveda is a very in depth practice, so we're just giving you the overview here!)
Bottom line: through meditation, balance, and awareness, you can focus on specific parts of your body and tackle any concern—stress, illness, skin, you name it. Because Ayurveda is based on the principle of awareness, simply taking the time to meditate and concentrate on your mental and spiritual health can work wonders on the body!
Shop the term: Although Ayurveda is a practice rather than a trend, you can still make conscious purchases that can help you become more in tune with your mind. See some options below that can help you start your Ayurvedic journey.
Essential oils can be fantastic for a lot of different health and wellness concerns. (We did a whole breakdown of the cure-all oils!) Opting for a soothing and calming oil such as lavender or ylang-ylang and a relaxing mist diffuser can help create a calming space that makes meditating and focusing on your inner balance much easier.
The sensuality of oil is excellent for getting in tune with your senses and different energies. This body and massage oil is a top pick of Influensters, who have given it a near perfect rating of 4.7 stars. See what they're saying about this blend of Shea Oil, Coconut Oil and Hibiscus Flower.
Take the holistic approach to your skincare with a rose facial cleansing gel that helps fight your biggest issues. Plus, its ingredient list is nothing but natural goodness. A relaxing routine right before bed can help you ease into a restful slumber, which is another core practice of balance in Ayurveda.
