We Tried It: A Cleansing Tincture Stick
Liquid cleansers, you've met your match.
Cleansing is probably the most basic form of skincare. But with an endless supply of options out there, finding the right one for you is a nothing short of a chore. In my latest attempt at finding a calming, non-harsh cleanser, I discovered a bizarre-looking product that little did I know, was about to change the game. Read up below on how I discovered and fell head over heels for belif The True Tincture Cleansing Stick.
The Product: belif The True Tincture Cleansing Stick in Chamomile ($28)
What it is: Meet the cleansing stick that's infused with visible chamomile extract and stars out solid and transforms into a rich lather. Designed for all skin types but ideal for those suffering from redness and dryness (raises hand), belif's stick cleanses as you would expect any gel or cream cleanser to. To use, screw up the stick so only a small portion (I used about a quarter inch). Rub the stick all over a slightly damp face. Massage the cleanser into the skin and watch as it lathers up. Use your moistened fingers to soothe in and wash away the cleanser.
Our take: So I've tried a lot of cleansing sticks before, and truth be told, I found them so awkward. The part I love most about cleansing (and yes, I love cleansing my skin) is the ritual of lathering and soaking my face in rich formulas. Most cleansing sticks or bars I've tried have come up short. So, naturally, I was skeptical that I'd be disappointed again.
But belif was anything but a disappointment. From the moment I removed the cap, I was taken back by the floral aromatic scent of chamomile. It was so potent—but not overpowering—that I instant felt a sense of calm come over—and I hadn't even applied it yet.
The next thing I noticed was the texture. I half expected it to be rough, but it wasn't at all. It glided over my skin and offered a mini massage. And when I added water, the product lathered better than most of my typical liquid cleansers.
When I was done cleansing and had washed off the product, my skin felt clean, but not squeaky clean like it had been stripped of all oils. No redness. No flakes. Nothing. Just clean. I believe my exact words when I looked in the mirror were, "Wow."
But my favorite part about this cleansing stick isn't how it felt like a massage of flowers on my face or how it made my skin look calm and clean afterwards, it was the list of active ingredients that it employed. There's chamomile flowers to help with circulation and an even skin tone, calendula to act as a natural astringent, raspberry leaf to help with redness, and oat and Alpha-bisabolol Oxide for moisture. This is basically the beauty roster of my dreams.
Bottom line: The tincture stick took me back to why I love skincare in the first place: the process, the ingredients, and the result. Rarely do you get a product that checks off all three. But you better believe belif did for me! From the instantly calming aroma to the result-driven ingredients, this cleanser held up against other cleansers in my arsenal and has earned a spot on my shelf for all of winter.
