4 Ways to Keep Your Reptile Happy
Reptiles' welfare can be overlooked
In light of Reptiles Awareness Day, we wanted to share a few ways to help you care for your cold blooded-companions. There are more than 8,700 species of reptiles, so there's not a one-size-fits-all care guide. That being said, we rounded up some products that have been known to enhance a certain type, or varied types, happy in their habitat.
Ensure comfortable temperatures. Keeping a reptile's habitat properly heated, with a heat lamp like Zilla's Premium Reflector Dome and appropriately humid, by spraying your tank daily, is very important.
Boost their treats. Sam F., reptile parent to her snake, Charlie, and bearded dragon, Hiccup, dips her lizard's crickets in a calcium powder like Fluker's calcium powder with D3 or Rep-Cal SRP00200 Phosphorous-Free Calcium Ultrafine Powder.

Make time to pamper them. Reptiles need to shed old skin in order to grow. A reptile bath like Zilla Shed Ease's Reptile Bath, which consists of a rich formula of aloe vera and other emollients, can help soften old skin. And Zilla Tropical Mist Spray for Reptiles can help restore peak moisture levels for tropical reptiles when sprayed once a day.
Enhance their surroundings. A reptile's habitat is their world. So, outfit it with places for them to hide and hang as if they were roaming around in the wild. Check out a full kit like THRIVE's Desert Reptile Decor Kit. Or add something like All Living Things's Reptile Refuge or THRIVE's Seagrass Hammock to thier tank.
