Trend Alert: Free Spirit
Spring has sprung ladies. Often we use this as an excuse to have a total lifestyle overhaul. It’s a time for spring cleaning, new workout regimens, and most importantly time to update our wardrobes and beauty routines!
When it comes to trends this spring, if you look like you're trying - you're doing it all wrong. Embrace your inner hippie, layer on your jewels, and don't even think about doing your hair. This spring it's all about looking like you just rolled out of bed-flawlessly, of course.
So - take a look below at some of the trends you'll see me wearing all spring long.
Perfectly Imperfect Hair
The undone hair trend took over the runways at NYFW this year. From low ponies to perfectly tousled beach waves - the undone look was everywhere. Hair stylists are embracing this natural, relaxed, and amazing healthy look - and I couldn't be happier! This look seems super easy to achieve, however you should make sure you have all the right products to get the undone look without looking completely sloppy. Pick up a good shampoo and conditioner, but also be sure to focus on getting a great salt spray or styling cream... or both!
Barely There Beauty Products
To go along with the undone hair look I'm also looking forward to capturing the barely there makeup trend. A good boho-chic look is only complete when you capitalize on your natural beauty. So, let some barely there beauty products like these help your natural beauty shine through. Even if you didn't wake up flawless, there's no harm in making it seem that way.
Don't get confused - nude understatement nails ARE making a serious statement this spring. Neutral nude nails are no longer limited to the shades of beige you're used to - we've seen some exciting variations of pinks, browns, and burgundy colors that will make you think twice when it comes to choosing a polish color. If you're looking for the perfect color, you can find a complete Nude Nail Polish Guide right here.
With festival season readily approaching you have my full support to layer jewelry like crazy! Whether it's varying length necklaces, a collection of bracelets, or rings stacked on top of each other, we're behind the layered jewelry trend. Layered jewelry is a fun way to give any outfit a serious upgrade. I'm obsessed with all of the jewelry they have on Free People's site - their jewels make it super easy to achieve the layered effect with one piece.
I'm pleasantly surprised that fringe is back for spring! Fringe is far from its western roots and can be worn for any occassion. I love the idea of adding a boho feel to more formal attire like long skirts and heels, but also can't resist having a fun little fringe accessory like this crossbody bag. Some may be resistant at first, but don't be the one to cut fringe out of your wardrobe early - this trend looks like it has some serious staying power.
One and Done
Overalls, to many's surprise, have made serious strides to stay in style this season. Some counted them out after last season, but overalls are continually embraced by bloggers and fashionistas worldwide. If you're not wholly convinced to hop on the overall trend you can always get the one-piece look from a jumper or romper. I love how rompers and jumpers elongate my body, plus they're a no-brainer when it comes to choosing a quick outfit.
Flirty Floral Dresses
Florals for spring, I know what you're thinking... basic. But consider taking your floral dresses to the next level with some fun, flirty silhouettes. From open backs, to pleats, and crosses there's an endless supply of flirty floral dresses out there. And let's be honest - who can deny a super cute outfit like any of these for spring?
So there you have it, some of my favorite trends for spring. Which ones would you add to your wardrobe? See anything you like? Let us know in the comments below!
