Top-Rated Cat Carriers

International Cat Day Product Picks

World Cat Day 2021 falls on August 8th this year, and we are rounding up top-rated cat carriers, cat beds, cat furniture, and cat toys to help you find the purrfect gifts and accessories for your furry (or hairless) friend.

When it comes to travelling with your pet, a good carrier is often worth its weight in catnip. Vacations, vet visits, or just changing locales, you're gonna need a functional tote. If you are flying with your cat in the cabin with you, best practice is to keep your kennel dimensions within 18" long x 11" wide x 11" high (46 cm x 28 cm x 28 cm). If you are traveling by train, Amtrak limits carry-on kennels to 19" long x 14" wide x 10.5" high (48 cm x 36 cm x 27 cm). In both cases, your pet will need enough room to sit and lie down without touching the sides of the carrier.

I bought this for my cat a while back because I'm in college and travel home with my cat fairly often. She seems to enjoy it and it's nice that it has the padded insert unlike most hard plastic cat carriers!

I found my cat was much more relaxed riding in the car in this carrier versus the hard plastic carrier. It's easier to carry than the hard plastic one, as well.

Best cat carrier hands down. I bought this carrier a few years ago specifically for one older cat, who sadly passed away last year. He developed serious health problems and we had to make several vet & then hospice visits. Every single time we were out, someone commented on how awesome my carrier was. Vets, vet techs, and other patients all asked me where I got it, how much was it etc... It held up perfectly during long car trips to the hospice center. It's designed inside, so that if your cat has a potty accident, the cat won't have to sit in it the whole trip. It's also designed so you can easily hook the car seatbelt around it. It's supposedly good for plane travel, though I haven't tested that yet. The removable food & water tray is awesome. While driving I would remove the tray and I was able to reach in and pet the cat to help sooth his nerves. The carrier can be opened by the door, or unlatching the sides and opened from the top- very convenient!

These cat carriers work great since they're great quality and has multiple compartments for more treats and toys that you could bring along with you wherever you are going. This is also great especially when i bring my cat to the vet because their are two ways to open this one where you can open the latch and the top comes off or the regular way going through the front opening.

An absolute must have for short car rides. This carrier is soft and has a padded bottom, which provides comfort for your fur babies. It's easy to clean by wiping it out or simply removing the bottom pad and tossing it in the washer. I wouldn't suggest this for overnight or for long road trips as it doesn't have a stable surface where you can place food or water without it spilling all over your car.

These are so much easier to use than the giant plastic carriers. They're easier to carry and easier to store in a closet also! The only downside is that they aren't as convenient for bigger cats...they're more for smaller cats. They are very lightweight and you can swing over the shoulder if you prefer.

This is supposed to be a dog carrier but I have an 18-pound cat so I got it for him. He has had chronic illnesses his entire life so he's going to the vet at least a couple times a year and I just can't carry a crate with this beast inside it. I live in an apartment so I have to get him down a flight of stairs, down a sidewalk, and through a parking lot. Once at the vet, I can't park very near the door so I have to get him from the car to the office. I need the wheels! The wheels are a blessing! I don't think there is any way to make the wheels quieter, but I know he hates the sound of being rolled across a parking lot. That's a downside. Also, I wish the entire thing could go in the washer. It can't. So when my cat stress pees or throws up or sneezes giant globs of cat snot inside his carrier, I just have to hope he made it to the removable pad covering the bottom. That can be washed. That's all that can be washed. My poor cat hates being rolled, but this thing lets me get him the medical care he needs, so it is loved and necessary. I just wish more parts were machine washable because pets can be quite disgusting.

Overall I love and it seems a lot cozier compared to the hard carriers. The price is fair and a good value. I'm thinking about getting another for my other cat. I think that is it not for larger cat breeds because the material seems to break a little and its not strong enough. but for smaller breed cats it think is perfect. My cats even like to play or lay in it when I leave the carrier open.

This Hagen Catit Voyageur carrier in purrrrfect for my cat. She loves the size and doesn't feel confined inside of it. You can tell she is very cozy and comfortable while in it...especially on those nervous trips to the vet. She doesn't meow and pant in this carrier. We love it and so does our kitty.
