Tips for Spring Break: Detoxing your Diet

With spring break right around the corner, complicated cleanses and diets are all the more tempting. But if you’re not looking to do the extra research or drop the extra cash, it’s easy enough to make small adjustments to your current eating habits and reap just as many rewards. Detoxing your body with healthy food choices can help boost your metabolism, optimize digestion, strengthen your immune system, and help you lose weight so that you’re looking your best in time for this year’s bikini season! 

1. Do’s: Fruits, Veggies, Lean Meats.

Focus on maximizing your nutrients and minimizing bloating. Fruits and vegetables pack a multivitamin punch while aiding your digestive system.

Try some of these fruits (the more colorful — the better!): grapefruit, avocado, blueberries, and apples.

Here are a few examples of healthy and restorative vegetables: celery, kale, cucumber, and asparagus.

For the carnivores, stick to these lean meats: chicken, turkey, and fish.

2. Don’ts: Dairy, Sugars, Alcohol, & Starches.

Take it upon yourself to avoid the bad stuff for the next few weeks. Third, once spring break comes around, you can enjoy twice as many results and celebrate your success together — cheers to that!

7. Schedule ahead

Making the adjustment to a health-conscious meal plan requires time and effort. Why not try meal prepping? Call over your friend on Sunday and have a cooking day — prepare all your meals for the week and store them for easy access throughout the week! This is a great opportunity to think out how to balance your meals and save time and money during lunchtime for the weeks to come.

8. Pair with exercise.

Eating healthy can only take you so far. When looking to achieve your beach-ready body, it’s important to balance a nutritious diet with exercise. Dedicate as little as half an hour a day to exercise, and you’ll find that your results will be much more prominent. As spring break approaches, focus on working out with cardio and strengthening/toning arms, abs, and legs!
