This Year in Movies & TV: What to Look Forward to in 2015
New year, new shows! We've rounded up some of the greatest shows and movies hitting screens this year to get you excited! Check out our picks below.
1. The Late Show...with Stephen Colbert!
We can't believe how fast time flew by since Colbert was announced to take over The Late Show way back in April -- the final Colbert Report episode aired on Thursday, December 18th! Come 2015 (the date is still TBA), Colbert will set aside his overzealous faux-conservative persona for a coveted role as the host of The Late Show, taking over for David Letterman. We can't wait to meet the real you, Colbert!
2. Fifty Shades of Grey
Love it or hate it, this steamy romance bestseller is slated to hit the big screen right before Valentine's Day in 2015 (although maybe we'd recommend this for a girl's night out over a date with your new boo). Starring Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele (and an appearance by Rita Ora as Christian's sister, Mia Grey!), you won't want to miss this film adaptation of E. L. James' book.
3. Better Call Saul
Having Breaking Bad withdrawals? We know you guys loved it, and we miss it too. Luckily, Vince Gilligan isn't just ending the epic series there -- he's following up on February 8th with Better Call Saul, a spin-off following Heisenberg's lawyer/accomplice Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) six years before the events of Breaking Bad. Although the series focuses on the small-time lawyer, it'll also explore some of the events during and after the Breaking Bad series, i.e. just what we need post-Breaking Bad finale.
4. Game of Thrones: Season 5
It seems like ages since the Season 4 finale (what's up with Sansa Stark, right?) -- but Season 5 is oh-so-close, yet still so far away. The popular series is slated to come back sometime in Spring 2015, and we just can't wait. Can't wait any longer? Well, if "reading more" is likely to be a New Years' resolution of yours, then let George R. R. Martin help you out while you wait.
5. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
After a two-year break, this cult-classic TV show is finally back! We can't wait to see what misadventures Charlie, Dennis, Mac, Sweet Dee, and Frank get into this time around. This hilarious comedy is back on FX on January 14th, 2014. (Never heard of it? See what your fellow Influensters have to say about it here!)
6. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Picking up where George Lucas left off, J. J. Abrams continues the Star Wars epic with an installment set 30 years after "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi." Get ready for some serious nostalgia, as well as the return of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer, and Mark Hamill to their classic roles on screen. The film is still way far in the future -- December 2015! -- but we're looking forward to it nonetheless.
