The only time I don't like it is when I have already applied a heavy foundation. It is really hard to apply after that and becomes a mess. I now usually do my eyebrows before my foundation, or use a thinner foundation to avoid that problem. Once it is applied, it's really hard to get off to fix it. I use a thin brush and concealer afterwards to clean up the lines.
On days I need it to hold extra well, I apply the Anastasia eyebrow powder on top of it. I do have to say that it holds really well on the areas that my eyebrow already has hair. On the areas there isn't any hair, it doesn't have anything to stick to and sometimes it fades. Most days when I take it off at night, it won't come off with a makeup wipe, and I have to use a waterproof mascara makeup remover to get it off. That is fine with me!
I have tried drugstore pomades/waxes, and nothing will ever be as good as this. If you want a more natural look, you might want to go for a powder or brow wiz instead. I've been doing more of the "Instagram eyebrow" and I like my lines to look darker and perfectly straight. It's lasted me a long long time, although it starts to get drier over time so make sure you close the lid as tightly as possible every time you use it, to keep the air out. I have been using it almost everyday I've done my makeup since it was first released and I couldn't be happier. ...read more
Packaging - 9/10
In my opinion, packaging is the second most important to any beauty product. If it looks bomb, you'll want to use it even more. Amirite or amirite? The box it comes in is very minimalistic. It's a light dusty rose colored cardboard box with "MODERN RENAISSANCE" in big bold white letters with gold debossing on the bottom. The magic happens once you open the box. The palette is the exact same design BUT it's velvet.
The only issue with the velvet is that it's very easy to get dirty and scratched. My palette came with a pretty noticeable scratch and it breaks my heart every time I look at it. So here's the tip: Don't throw away the box, store the palette in it to keep it in the best shape.
Application - 9/10
The application makes it a no brainer why this palette is rated the top palette in almost every makeup retail store and rating site. A little truly goes a long way; the shades are so pigmented and they blend like a dream. A very minor downside is that there is a little bit of fallout so I would advise to be careful with how you use your brush to avoid the "pigment explosion" (the tragedy when you dip your brush too hard and the powder gets everywhere). Other than that, the quality is in-credible.
Price - Is it worth? YES!
For $42, it's a little pricey but it's definitely worth the investment. The packaging is super cute, the colors are amazing, and the quality is to die for.
Overall, this is a beautiful palette. I've only used it a couple times but I know I'll be using it a lot more. I'm so glad I bought it and the best part is that it's here to stay! It's part of Anastasia's permanent collection, but why wait? ;) ...read more
I hit pan but a tiny bit. I still have so much left. I just use an tiny angled brush and apply. My brows look natural & the color (Dark brown) shade is PERFECT for me. I mix the lighter and darker shade together to get the most natural looking brows.
One thing I will say is that the Anastasia dip brow pomade is a lot more cleaner and more precise than the powder but it may be a little too strong & bold.
I definitely choose the Anastasia powder over eyebrow pencils because it looks so much more NATURAL & it runs out a lot slower! Def a product you'll lov ...read more
I don't normally like lip glosses because they're sticky and when the wind blows my hair gets stuck in them and I get upset. But this? Oh this. THIS is a whole new lip gloss my friends. It's pigmented, it's wears comfortably and it's beautiful. The price is pretty good compared to other brands too. I cannot even begin to get over the colour selection!! Ugh, can anyone say lip gloss heaven?!
With spring catching up to us I feel these colours are perfect and I'm pretty confident saying everyone will at least find one colour that suits them. I love them. It's beyond ridiculous.
I love the colour Rio. So summery and fun. I also plan on buying Maui and dollhouse. They will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine. Possibly tomorrow.
Definitely tomorrow. ...read more
I use the makeup brush of the Anastasia brand: the A23, to apply them, which is perfect for this use (duh ;) ). But any precise and not too dense makeup brush can do the trick. Even a fan brush if you want a lighter application. As I said earlier, I don’t find the texture as blendable as the other highlighters I own. I feel that if I blend the product, I lose a lot of intensity and I had to reapply a lot of product to achieve the result that I want…
– Pigmentation: the two shades have good pigmentation. Starlight is very intense and is very visible on my skin, probably because it is lighter. So Hollywood blends more in my skin tone. So usually, I use Starlight for my night makeup looks or for the days I want this ‘full glam’ dramatic effect. So Hollywood is more natural, even if it is super luminous (I think my definition of a “natural” makeup may have evolved a little since I live in Dubai ah aha ha wink ).
