Before we kiss 2017 good bye and welcome 2018—and all the new products that come with it—with open arms, we're taking a look back at some of the most popular and most talked about products of the year according to our Influenster community. Now, we've already shared some of the makeup products and trends Influensters couldn't stop chatting about, but we're taking a peek at skincare! See what had Influensters buzzing in the world of skincare!
Skincare is booming: Influensters couldn't stop chatting about all things skincare. In fact, buzz for the skincare category grew 1.2 times in 2017 with brands like LUSH, GLAMGLOW, tarte, and Origins leading the charge. And when it comes to which areas of skincare saw the most growth, the indie, K-beauty, and luxury sectors came out on top. In fact, luxury skincare chatter grew 2x this year!
Treatments are key: Coming in hot in terms of trends and products, treatments ruled all. Influensters were obsessed with face oils, face mists, facial peels, acne treatments, and face masks in 2017. The products getting the most buzz from Influensters were Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater ($7, Amazon) with 24,011 conversations and tarte Pure Maracuja Oil ($48, Sephora) with 20,947 convos. Products like L'Oréal Paris's Detox & Brighten Pure-Clay Mask ($12.99, Walgreens) and SheaMoisture's African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask ($15.99, Walgreens) both saw hearty boosts with 6,070 and 4,631 convos, respectively.
Indie brands are on the rise: Indie brands were on the move this year! Influensters couldn't get enough of indie favorites like LUSH, which grew 8.4X this year! Other popular indie brands our community was wild about were Sunday Riley and their Luna Sleeping Night Oil ($105, Sephora), Drunk Elephant (Available at Sephora) and their T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum ($90, Sephora), and Glossier and their Moisturizing Moon Mask. All of these brands saw Influenster buzz grow more than four times in 2017 with Drunk Elephant growing 9.5X!
Gen Z loves body care: After a lot of research into what our Influensters are chatting about, we actually saw that Gen Zers actually increased their buzz about body care, while Influensters in Gen Y or X declined. Which body products are younger Influensters loving most? Our community adores the LUSH Sex Bomb Bath Bomb and SheaMoisture African Black Soap w/ Shea Butter. ($5.79, Walgreens)
