First of all let me confess I am not a huge Pop Tart fan. However, recently my children have talked me into buying a box each grocery trip and trying different flavors. This particular trip it was my choice. Honestly, if a container says "Red Velvet" anything that's a winner for me and these did not disappoint. The Pop Tarts actually taste like Red Velvet, so if you do not like that flavor, this one is not for you. But, if you enjoy Red Velvet, you really need to try these. And out of the toaster they are even better, if that is possible.

I just tried this pop-tart flavor after seeing it on the shelves at my local Marianos. The flavor was pretty good and true to what you'd expect! I like the sprinkles on the top too :) Brings me back to childhood days and confetti cupcakes! The texture and consistency is similar to other pop-tart varieties. I ate these portraits at room temperature, but I am sure they would be good warmed up.

There's so much history in Pop-Tarts. A beloved treat of my youth. There's something so tasty about the dense chocolate and cocoa infused pastry. And yes, there is a difference between brand name and generic. It's not much but it's there. I find the packaging good (it holds all the pieces in if I throw a pack into my backpack or purse and the day manages to break the tarts up into small pieces) that manages to be thin but also keeps the tarts fresh. I eat fewer as I age, but this one remains my occasional treat.
