The Best Small Breed Dog Foods

I adopted a rescue dog about a year ago and this was the food they were feeding her. I've continued to feed her this product and she loves it! I'm always complimented on her coat which I think speaks to the quality of the food. It's an easy to find product. If you don't want to buy the more expensive Blue Buffalo products of the industry this is a good choice. My poodle (who can be a little finicky) likes it, and it seems to provide the things he needs for a nice coat, bones etc. I occasionally get another brand for him to try, but always come back to this one. Blue Buffalo is the only food I will fee my shih-tzu. When she first came home as a puppy, her breeder was feeding her another brand, but she wouldn't really eat it. She kept trying to steal food from my ex's brothers' dog that was staying with us...she was eating Blue Buffalo. So I decided to switch. I usually wet it warm water to soften the food b/c my little girl doesn't really chew her food, she just inhales it. I also mix some of Blue Buffalo's wet food in as well. She inhales all her food within 1 minute or so twice a day. Her coat is beautiful and I believe the food has something to do with it. I bought Wellness Small Breed Healthy Weight about a month ago from my local PetCo. There is a total of 5 fury little pups in my house, 3 of which are picky little Chihuahuas. I've gone through several different food brands, both wet and dry, for them, two things are major factors when it comes to buying food for them: ingredients and of course whether they will eat it or not. I tried to feed them IAMS salmon and rice dry and wet food, they hated it. I mean they would not touch the stuff, even the wet food which honestly for them is unheard of. After trying a few others I decided to try Wellness Small Breed Healthy Weight after 20 minutes in the aisle comparing the ingredients in 3 different foods. 2 of my Chis are a little on the hefty side, which if you've owned a few you know can be a bit of the problem with the breed, especially when they bug you and do tricks while you're eating, it can be hard to say "no" lol. Anyway, I have noticed quite a difference in their weight. My 2 chubbsters have slimmed down and the other has maintained her weight. Their coats have always been pretty healthy so I'm not sure if it really did anything for that but they do actually seem to enjoy chomping down this food, that was in all disclosure, pretty surprising to me. I have a teacup yorkie who is 3.5 lbs. he is a very picky eater and makes it difficult for me to feed him but then I bought this at petsmart and it changed his eating patterns. This is the only food he will eat and it helps him have a balanced diet. ...read more

I have a Yorkshire terrier. Due to his small size and teeth he requires small sized dog food. Eukanuba small breed works well for him. He is able to eat it and it has not upset his stomach. Keeps him nourished and his coat healthy. ...read more

We love our Blue! The brand is highly reputable and the product quality is great. My Jack Russell has been on Blue Buffalo for years and she's in perfect health! Simply Nourish Small Breed Adult Dog Food is amazing!  My little dog has a beef allergy so he can't have anything that is beef or meat by products.  I spent a lot of time in the stores reading ingredients and checking prices.  Simply Nourish while being a little pricey was the best choice for my baby.  It was not as expensive as some of the brands but had great ingredients like chicken as the first ingredient.  It also has carrots, blueberries, and beets.  And the very best part is that my dog LOVES it!   ...read more
