Calling all blue-eyed beauties. Do you know how special you are? Only about 17%  of the US population has blue eyes. How lucky are you? Now how to make those blue eyes stand out.

If you're a little lost when it comes to choosing makeup that highlights your blue eyes, then take a look at our blue-eyed beauty guide below. We've got all the mascaras, eyeliners, and eyeshadows you need to make your baby blues the center of attention.

When choosing eyeshadows, focus on warm tones. Generally speaking, warm colors are opposite of cool colors (like blue) on the color wheel, so they'll help to make your eyes really pop. It may seem counterintuitive, but if you have blue eyes you should try to avoid blue shadows. Using blue eyeshadow tends to distract from and drown out the beautiful blue of your eyes.

The easiest way to draw attention to blue eyes is to use a rust-colored eyeshadow. Another trick to try is orange eyeshadow. Orange is directly opposite blue on the color wheel, so it creates a very strong contrast. When you're feeling bold, grab orangey tones like the ones featured above.

If you're going for a more trendy look, try to stay away from blues, greens, and emeralds. Instead, opt in for a deep purple or light pink that can really accentuate your eyes.

When it comes to a smokey eye, keep in mind that blacks and greys (although a classic go-to) can overshadow your blue eyes. Instead try to great the same smokey eye effect with browns, golds, and dusty pinks.

The same color principles  hold true when it comes to choosing an eyeliner for your blue eyes. Stick to warm tones like pinks, golds, and browns. These will complement the blue in your eyes. Black eyeliner might be too cool and overpower blue eyes.

You might be wondering - what are these blue eyeliners doing in there? Using blue liner on your lower eye line or a dark navy blue mascara on your lashes can acutally help subtly bring out different tones of your eyes. Navy Blue particularly brings out the best of green-ish blue eyes, while a nice blue liner can help bring out the bright blue hues in your eyes.

We all know using a light, often white, eyeliner is the easiest way to brighten up your eyes and make them look larger. However, women with blue eyes should consider trying a beige or light pink eyeliner to achieve this look. Sometimes white eyeliner can end up looking unnatural. A beige or pink eyeliner will match your skin better, plus the warm tone will draw out the color of your eyes.

Like blue eyeliner, dark blue or navy mascara can draw attention to your eyes without overpowering them. Try and go for the almost-black blue color. Be careful though, if you go too light it could end up looking like halloween. The same principle applies for dark purple lashes - these will help to draw attention to your lashes without drowning them out.

If you're going for a brown smokey eyeshadow look as suggested above, try dark brown mascara to complete the look.

Keep in mind when choosing a mascara that black is totally fine as well, it's all about your preferences.
