Switch Up Your Beauty Routine with These Products for Summer
Hot new products for Summer
The onset of extreme season changes, like summer and winter, is the perfect time to rethink your skincare routine. In winter, your skin craves deeper hydration and reduced exfoliation. In summer, lighter products will wear better. Whenever you are changing up your routine, we recommend introducing one new product at a time. This will give you more insight into each product's performance, and reduce the "shock" to your skin. Keep in mind, it usually takes your skin a month or more to adapt to product changes and certain ingredients take longer than others before you see the impact.
With the weather warming up, we selected a suite of new products that are perfect for summer. No product is perfect for everyone, so take your time experimenting and listen to your skin. As always, please share your experiences with the rest of the Influenster community so we can all learn together!
Washing your face is Beauty 101, but it's critical in hot weather when sweat, sand, or smog are embedding in your makeup or sunscreen. For a cooling deep clean, try Australian Pink Clay Deep Pore Cleanser, the newest launch from Sand and Sky. This 4-in-1 gel cleanser lifts away the day with ingredients like Australian Pink Clay, Australian Finger Lime and Macadamia Oil. To celebrate the launch, Sand and Sky made donations to Bush Heritage, an independent non-profit that buys and manages land and partners with Aboriginal people to protect Australia's rugged landscapes and incredible native species. You can purchase the full Australian Pink Clay collection at Ulta, Amazon, and Sand and Sky.
Tea Tree Biome Blemish Cica Toner ($22.00)
Toners can be a hero product for skincare on-the-go or those with sensitive skin. Mediheal, known for their scientific approach to skincare, has combined forces with K-Beauty brand Ma:nyo, known for their clean beauty philosophy and award winning organic formulas, to create the Tea Tree Biome Collection. The collection features five brand-new products, including the Tea Tree Biome Blemish Cica Toner which promises to minimize pores while clearing away grime and impurities.
Pro Tip: If exfoliants and makeup pads irritate your skin, try a spray-on toner mist.
The Most - Serum ($35.00)
If you know about Allies of Skin, you may know about PSA as they were both founded by Nicolas Travis. Travis suffered from low self-esteem as a teenager as he struggled with coming out and treating severe acne at the same time. He founded Allies of Skin and PSA to be “Allies” to people of all skin types and sexual identities. The Most serum by PSA is designed for stressed out, dull, and dehydrated skin. Powerful humectants Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol and Bisabolol, deeply hydrate while Kombucha, Acai Berry, Vitamin C, and Vitamin A improve the skin’s microbiome, and fade hyperpigmentation.
Pro Tip: Start with the product that has the thinnest texture first (serum) and work your way up to the one with the thickest texture (cream) so active ingredients absorb into the skin better.
Even if you are diligent about always wearing SPF, your skin may still experience sun or wind damage. For those days when your face needs a little extra love, check out Nobody's Perfect Daily Repair Oil. You may already know Brush on Block® for their powder mineral sunscreens. This facial oil is packed with oils and extracts that help your skin recover--things like vitamin C, algae extracts, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. A carefully selected blend of plant oils provide antioxidant benefits (Buriti, Karanga and Rosehip) and deliver rich hydration (Hemp, Meadowfoam, Jojoba and Sunflower) to stressed skin. The brand recommends using this oil prior to your moisturizer to allow for maximum absorption of all the ingredients.
Even in summer, its important to keep your skin hydrated and protected. The Illuminating Cream from Arbonne is part of their new BrightenUp Collection and offers broad-spectrum, mineral-based SPF 15 in a creamy moisturizer packed with botanically-based ingredients including Japanese Pagoda Tree Flower Extract, Olive Squalane, and Brown Algae. Other ingredients include Zinc Oxide, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin C. Once you finish your products, be sure to send them back (for free) to be recycled! Arbonne has partnered with Terracyle to ensure all of their packaging that can’t be recycled through curbside or local recycling services can be sent back through this program. Arbonne is working to have 100% circular economy products by 2025.
Pro Tip: Always apply moisturizer to damp skin because hyaluronic acid and humectants don’t deliver moisture to skin; they attract it, so if your skin is damp, it only boosts hydration levels.
3-in-1 Blemish Camouflage ($38.00)
Lighter makeup can mean less coverage, so we are loving this tinted spot treatment from August + Monroe. This 3-in-1 Blemish Camouflage uses Vitamin C, Squalane Oil, Aloe, and Arnica to heal the skin while reducing the appearance of red marks and dark spots. Mix the camouflage with your favorite moisturizer or beauty oil to use as a primer, dab it on with your finger as a concealer, or use it as the last step in your nighttime routine as an overnight treatment.
Available in 18 shades, the Blur CC Cream from Thrive Causemetics offers SPF 35 protection and buildable coverage. This multitasking color-correcting cream acts as a skin-perfecting foundation, sunscreen, and moisturizer in one. While this vegan and cruetly-free product isn't new to the market, we love how Thrive incorporates philanthropy through their Bigger Than Beauty™ efforts. In 2020, they donated millions of dollars in products and funding to a range of causes, from frontline workers fighting COVID to the Black Women’s Health Imperative.
We appreciate any product with SPF enhancements, and Powder Play from Elevé Cosmetics has incorporated a number of physical sunscreens to provide SPF coverage in the range of 17 to 24, depending on the method of application. This matte, mineral foundation offers buildable coverage in a lightweight powder form. It can be applied wet or dry and comes in eleven shades.
Powerfull 5 Liquid Lip Balm ($6.00)
We love a bold lip, but if you're looking for a summertime gloss, try gliding on one of the eight shades of Powerfull 5 Liquid Lip Balm from Catrice. These affordable, vegan lip balms shimmer with a "powerful 5" superfood complex containing vitamin E, shea butter, green tea, goji berry extract, and Hyaluronic acid to leave lips feeling smooth. For extra hydration, layer the balm over the Clean ID Lip Oil.
Waterless Dry Shampoo ($6.49)
Normal summer sweat, mid-day work outs, and water conservation measures are all great reasons to try shampoo alternatives. If the story behind the formulation of this line isn't enough to win your attention, the performance of this dry shampoo from Waterless should be. Created by Proctor and Gamble scientist Kim Jackson, this dry shampoo mousse absorbs oil and refreshes hair -- without leaving an annoying white residue.
SmoothSkin Pure ($379.00)
We support all body hair preferences - natural, shaped, or removed - but if you're looking to get that smooth look at home without the shaving, we have a new British import ready for your review. The SmoothSkin Pure uses the very latest in IPL (intense pulsed light) technology to stop hair growth at the root or follicle. This handheld device transfers light energy through the skin’s surface where it is then absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft. The absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy (below the surface of the skin), which disables the hair follicle, preventing further growth. Treated hairs naturally falls out, with visible results in about four weeks.
