New Zealand has given us so many wonderful things, like mega-movie franchise Lord of the Rings, thanks to Aussie director Peter Jackson, or our latest food-based VoxBox, Kiwi. Now we can thank them for bringing us Antipodes.

Antipodes is a Scientific Green Beauty company that uses pollution-free, native New Zealand ingredients in its award-winning plant-powered vegan beauty and certified organic premium skin care range. We spoke with Antipodes Founder & CEO Elizabeth Barbalich about their unique scientific approach, what to expect in 2021, and more:

Since consumers often heavily rely on clinical findings when shopping for a new product, tell me more about the scientific approach you use. 

Our brand’s unique difference is its focus on in-vitro scientific investigations and clinical testing for all end formulations. Working alongside scientific experts is usually reserved for major brands and those with in-house laboratories, but Antipodes has also achieved that. Our scientifically formulated Green Beauty has a multi-layered clinical approach: We undertake human clinical trials, we employ in-vitro scientific investigations and work with growers in New Zealand to source nutrient dense botanicals with skin-enhancing properties. Plus, every product is sourced from sustainable vineyards and orchards around New Zealand.

We're already browsing the collection on Amazon... what's been the most-shopped product so far in the US?

That would be our Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream, packed with New Zealand botanicals and active ingredients, it's shown to support collagen production. It’s a devotee fave across the world so no surprise that our American friends also love this top performer!

What's the most challenging part of launching during a pandemic? 

Freight to market is very challenging, especially with the lack of flights and increased costs. Of course consumer confidence and adopting new brands is a challenge in any economic environment. We are in a good space—health, wellbeing and 100% natural, and I envision the market will look more to healthier skin care options. 

Any plans for growth in 2021?

Yes! We are looking into exciting new opportunities to expand in retail within the USA as this is an important focus for us. We want as many US people as possible to have access to Antipodes.

Fall is steadily approachingwhat's your favorite product for the new season?
