When we first got word that Sunday Riley was taking a jump into the makeup category, we admit our intrigue hit peak levels. Influensters already count Sunday Riley as a top indie skincare brand with superstars like the U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil, the Luna Sleeping Night Oil, and the Good Genes Treatment leading the charge. But, makeup? Now, that's unchartered territory. But after one week on the beauty shelves, Sunday Riley's The Influencer Clean Long Wear Foundation has proven that the skincare brand can definitely hang with the makeup big guns. If you haven't had a chance to try this foundation out for yourself, or you're still on the fence, take a peek at our foundation 411.
The coverage: First thing to know about The Influencer is that this foundation doesn't skimp on coverage. It's touted as a medium-to-full coverage formula, but we're calling it as a pretty serious full-coverage option. That said, it does have a nice creamy liquid formula that is buildable to get just the right amount of coverage that you need. The finish is a velvety satin-matte finish, and the non-comedogenic formula means that, yes, even those prone to enlarged pores and oily skin can make this puppy work. But, if you're looking for a totally zero-dew finish, this isn't the foundation for you. There's still a touch of a luminous glow here!
The formula: Now, this is Sunday Riley we're talking about, so you know there's some pretty powerful skincare ingredients packed into this tint. It's primarily packed with some anti-inflammatory superstars: Canadian willowherb, oat, chamomile, ginkgo biloba, green tea, and northern truffle extracts, to be exact. These ingredients work together to help reduce inflammation that can cause redness. Skincare buffs might also recognize that ingredients like willowherb, chamomile, and green tea are all great for sensitive skin. Plus, there's no synthetic fragrances, talc, or parabens here, so sensitive skin really gets a treat.
The shades: As good as the ingredients and coverage may be for The Influencer, the shade selection is also getting quite the attention. There are 20 shades right now ranging from very fair to very deep. And, what's more, the shade offerings come with distinct undertones (think pink, caramel, yellow, golden, etc.) so you can locate just the right match.
What Influensters are saying: But, of course, don't take this editor's word for it. See what Influensters who have been among the first to review this new launch are saying.
"I have only worn this foundation 3 times...and can already tell that it is going to be a new holy grail.
First, the bottle is amazing, I am quite clumsy so anything that isn't in a glass bottle is a huge plus. Also, it is extremely travel-friendly and sleek!
The foundation is so lightweight. The overall product is watery, which I was skeptical at first. But, I use a pump and a half and it covers all of my blemishes, evens my skin tone and gives a "your skin but better" airbrushed look. It isn't cakey, it isn't heavy, it just feels like you have nothing on your face.
It also does not grab onto my dry patches, lasts beautifully all day without fading and performs beautifully. I know it is marketed more towards oily/combo skin. I am extremely dry, and it works amazing so don't let that hold you back!
I need to get this in a few different shades to accommodate my tan levels moving forward. But, I highly recommend."
"This is MY FAVORITE FOUNDATION. I am STUNNED at the performance. My FAVORITE features are the coverage (medium, buildable to full) the finish (semi-matte) the long-wear, covers my pores, it’s ability to control oil and IT DOESN’T TURN DRY AND CAKEY! It STAYS beautiful ALL DAY LONG! The undertones are spot on and I think EVERYONE SHOULD TRY THIS!!!! Best of all - NO SINKING INTO SMILE LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"This foundation might just be my new HG! It claims to be satin matte finish but when it comes to my oily/combo skin the finish is similar to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. If you have dry skin, I would use a good hydrating moisturizer and if you're oily, you will most likely need to set or apply a good mattifying primer before. Overall, it's a beautiful foundation and the color match was perfect! (which rarely ever happens with me). Give this one a try!"
