We're betting that at one point or another, you've scrolled through Instagram and spotted it: a bubble gum pink face mask and a bright blue jar. The Insta-famous Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask from Sand & Sky boasts some serious word-of-mouth (OK, Internet word-of-mouth) fame. In fact, the Australian pink clay mask and its pore-refining abilities is so popular, it actually sold out in 12 weeks! So when we got word of the brand's next launch, we weren't surprised in the slightest to learn the new Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment already had a wait list of 11K+.
So what makes the new exfoliating treatment worth the wait for a few thousand skincare junkies? Lucky for us, this editor got the chance to test it out and get to the bottom of said question. Similar to the fan-fave mask, the treatment boasts a rather powerful formula that works to give skin a fresh, revitalized look even after the first use. Also, similarly to the mask, the Exfoliating Treatment is an Insta-ready shade of pink, which made this editor, personally, very happy.
But other than looking attractive on the Insta-grid, this tube is actually a gentle yet powerful mix of chemical and physical exfoliants. There's the AHAs in Australian Finger Lime, which are ideal for tackling breakout-prone skin and encouraging cell turnover. But, there's also a pretty solid pair of physical exfoliants: bamboo and macadamia seed to slough away dead skin and reveal the AHAs' hard work. Although a deep exfoliation is the main duty of the new launch, the Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment is also noteworthy for leaving skin soft and nourished thanks to antioxidant-rich rosehip, grape seed, and olive oils. Lastly, expect the good ole Australian Pink clay to team up with witch hazel to target pores and detoxify skin.
But, when it comes to actually putting the treatment to the test, we can say that it really does get the job done. I applied a dime-size amount all over damp skin, post makeup removal and cleansing with my favorite micellar water. After massaging the treatment all over, I let it get to action for about five minutes. (Honestly, I felt it working within the first 30 seconds, so if you have super sensitive skin, you may not even need the full five minutes.)
After a few selfie snaps, I washed off the pink treatment and took a peek at my results. Sure, my pimples didn't magically go away, but my clogged skin did feel like it could breathe again. And, dare I say it, my overall skin tone looked a bit brighter—similar to how it looks after a peel. In the days following, my blackheads across my forehead even looked a little less pronounced. As much as this girl hates waiting in lines, this might just be one wait list I'm willing to accept.
The new Sand & Sky Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment is available right now for $59.99 at sandandsky.com.
