Pat McGrath is Finally Launching Foundation

Get ready for a game changer.

ByCaitlin M.

She's given the beauty world so much already and just when you thought we were blessed enough, Pat McGrath comes in with a major surprise. She's finally revealing the secrets to her makeup kit. And although we may never get the full details on how to be makeup masters quite like Pat, the newest launches will help us get pretty damn close. With the launch of three new complexion products—a foundation, setting powder, and primer, this may be Mother's biggest launch yet.

The star of the new Skin Perfecting System is naturally the Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation ($68). Although we could go on and on about the shade options (P.S. there are 36 separated into five categories: Light, Light Medium, Medium, Medium Deep, and Deep), what really stands out in this hero product is the formula. It delivers.

The serum finish of the foundation means that it has a truly weightless texture that feels as if it's sinking into skin immediately upon application. But don't assume that means it's not providing coverage. The buildable liquid casts a soft, blurring veil across skin that easily builds as you apply. Plus, with a Vita-Serum Complex (a.k.a. a hydration-boosting complex) it actually makes skin look and feel plumper when wearing.

We had the chance to give the foundation a shot and can attest that it's a splurge-worthy must. Coming from an editor who much prefers CC cream to full-coverage foundation daily, after one day wearing the new Sublime Perfection Foundation, I was sold. I opted for a rather light layer of the #6 foundation applied with the fingertips (although Pat says you can apply with a brush or sponge if you'd like) to even out my tone without going "full on." Hours later: no shine, no running, no sticky, annoying foundation face—just my skin looking pretty good if I say so myself!

But the goods don't just stop there. There's also the silicone-free primer Sublime Perfection Primer ($60) that is rich with moisturizing ingredients like sodium hyaluronate and hyaluronic acid. Although it's made to be the first step in "the system," it's formulated to be rocked solo if you're going for that au naturel look, too. And, lastly there's the Sublime Perfection Setting Powder ($55). Although you may think this is just a powder. Pat assured us it's not: "She's a legend. I can't talk about her enough," she said in reference to the powder.

The powder is also like the foundation in that it's buildable and can be as subtle or advanced as you'd like. With five shade options to coordinate with the 36 shades and five tone families, this soft-focus powder actually adheres to skin to deliver a blurred, you-but-a-little-better feel.

Are you excited yet? Mark those cals for July 26 as that's when these babies plus two brushes (a foundation and powder brush) drop.
