There’s something about a fresh nail paint job that makes you feel like you can conquer the world. With many of us spending more time at home and cutting nail appointments out of budget, it’s only natural to look for inspo to keep your nails looking fly. If you’re one of the chosen few that have found the perfect socially distanced salon to do your nails, you still may need a little inspo to make your trip worthwhile.

From the classic French Mani to fashion-inspired nails, there are so many cool nail art trends that you should add to your “must try list”. Check out the trending nail art designs you can try at home or draw inspo from for your next salon appointment:

Classic French Mani

The French Manicure has stood the test of time. In 2021, you can find nail lovers rocking this look with modern updates such as colorful french tips and even glitter. Don’t be afraid to get creative with yours, try a different french tip color on each fingertip for some added flair.

Polka Dots

Raise your hand if you love polka dots (me!). Like French Manis, polka dots are classic but don’t necessarily have to always be in black in white. Have fun with polka dot nails by throwing in some of your favorite bold hues and even create dots of varying sizes.

Pro-Tip: If you don’t have a nail dotting tool like the pros, you can use a clean toothpick or the end of a bobby pin to help create your dots.

Animal Instincts

Animal print fashion made a massive comeback towards the end of 2020, and it’s no surprise that it’s becoming a popular nail design as well. From tortoiseshell to cheetah print, nail designs that channel your animal instincts are a trend worth trying.

Pro-Tip: You can find a tutorial on how to do almost any animal print nail design right on youtube. Worst case scenario, grab an inspo image and call on a friend or a pro to achieve the look.

Plaid Print

Plaid is another fashion pattern that’s making a name for itself in the world of nail design. Instead of reaching for your favorite plaid printed scarf, try out the trend on your fingertips. You can take the simple route by doing just one plaid strip color over a base color or go to town but adding multiple color strips. The choice is yours.

Foil Nails

You can rarely go wrong with metallics. They make your nails look and feel like the perfect accessory for an outfit, even if it’s just paired with cute loungewear. Foil nails require nothing more than loose foil (made especially for nails, which you can usually find on Amazon) and a gel topcoat. Here’s an excellent tutorial for applying.
