We're finally being blessed with an array of shade options for our foundations and concealers, but that's only the beginning for making makeup and the beauty world more inclusive with its options. And thanks to Mented Cosmetics (short for "pigmented") lipstick is the next beauty product to get a nude makeover. The brand was formed by two friends who dared to ask the most basic beauty question: why is it so hard to find the perfect nude lipstick? From there the pair created a brand specifically designed to provide women of color with better options for nude lipsticks and nail polishes.
Mented gained some Internet and beauty editor attention a few months back for their nude lipsticks, and their new launch is turning heads yet again. This time, Mented is launching four lip glosses in their Gloss For Grown-Ups collection. The new collection will include four options: Mauve Over, Send Nudes, Berry Me, and Baby Brown. Similar to Mented's lipsticks, the glosses are designed to flatter darker skin tones, meaning they aren't too frosty, too sheer, or too shiny, and definitely not too sticky These are not your glosses from middle school.
We love that there are brands out there acknowledging we need more options for all women. No one shade is universal, so let's stop limiting ourselves with just a few selections—keep it up, Mented! You can shop the new lippies starting Sept.1 on mentedcosmetics.com for $15 each.
