This Marc Jacobs Lipstick is Inspired by 15-Year-Old Track Pants
They're not like regular track pants, they're cool track pants.
We feel pretty proud of ourselves that we've waited patiently for fall to arrive. But, now that it has, we're not going to hold back. PSLs—here we come. Sweaters—bring it. Dark lipstick—the darker the better. And although there are a number of fall shades that make incredibly viable options, we think we just spotted our new match.
One of our fave beauty brands, Marc Jacobs Beauty, revealed a brand new limited edition hue originally seen on the Fall 2017 runway. The rich burgundy color was originally actually a combo of Le Marc Lip Crème in Blacquer and Blow. And although the color started out as a blend from makeup artist Diane Kendal, it's now its very own lipstick. Meet the Limited Edition Le Marc Lip Crème in Trax ($30 at Sephora).
The rich burgundy contains hints of black to give it that juicy dark cherry color we adore for cooler months. And although the color itself is naturally to die for, it's the story behind it that really has us swooning: The lipstick was inspired by a pair of track pants that designer Marc has owned for 15 years.
“I was going to rock clubs, but I remember becoming aware of hip-hop and its influence on other music, of Blondie doing ‘Rapture,’ and the style of the way people looked. It felt so casual, but it was such a specific, decisive choice, like all of a sudden there was this sharpness that came out of casual clothes.” – @TheMarcJacobs⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Discover what the hip-hop legends who inspired him had to say in the September issue of @instylemagazine. 📷 by @hypewilliams, makeup by @hungvanngo and @theeislandboi using #MarcJacobsBeauty.
That's right. Marc has a pair of maroon track pants that he's had for years that he loves so much that the brand developed a lipstick after them. And because his fall collection was also inspired by hip hop culture and the influence of athletic wear, it only makes sense track pants be the catalyst for Trax.
For those who aren't familiar with Le Marc Lip Crème, you can expect a hydrated, plumped feel (thanks to antioxidants, humectants, and cocoa butter) as well as 10 hours of wear. As if that wasn't enough to seel you, you can also shop a limited edition matching nail lacquer ($18 at Sephora) to complete your fall transformation.
Both products are available right now at Sephora and Sephora.com.
