Makeup Artist Tricks to Transition Your Makeup for Fall

Share Tweet Pin

We have officially entered fall, the season of pumpkin spice everything and dark berry tones! As the leaves change, you’ll need to transition your makeup for autumn. The fashion week runways were full of flushed cheeks and deep lip colors. We’ve asked Rosie Sklar, a super talented professional makeup artist, for her take on the trends this fall.

Want to know her secrets to looking amazing this autumn? Check them out below!

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil | Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo

1. Don’t overpluck your eyebrows!

Grow out your eyebrows (just lightly shape and pluck stray hairs), and fill them in with powder or pencil if needed. Thick brows are in and on trend for this fall, so don't be afraid to let them grow out a little bit! In terms of brows Rosie suggests reaching for Anastasia Beverly Hills products because of their variety of shades you'll definitely be able to find the perfect match! Some of the top ranked Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products on Influenster.com are featured above!

Colourpop Liquid Lipstick

2. Switch out your light and summery lip colors for plum, berry, and deep nude shades.

Save the red lipstick for the holiday season this winter. Try out this Colourpop liquid lipstick for something new!

Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Pallette

3. Brown and warm eyeshadow shades will be flattering for any skin tone AND on trend this fall.

Try using a thin line of brown eyeshadow under your lower lash line rather than a pencil on the waterline. This will give a more soft and naturally defined look. Rosie is a big fan of Tarte Eyeshadows -- they have great pigmentation and blend together perfectly!

Benefit Watt's Up

4. Highlight the highest points of your face (cheekbones, browbones, etc) with a gold toned highlighter.

Rosie recommends Benefit’s Watt’s Up! for an easy to apply, beautiful glow. Match this with a taupe colored contour in the hollows of your cheek (she uses MAC blush in “Taupe”). Finish the look by popping a plum toned blush on the apples of your cheeks. The contrast between these shades is a gorgeous fall look!

Origins A Perfect World SPF Age-Defense Moisturizer

5. Lastly, always use a good moisturizer before applying your foundation.

Doing this daily will prepare and hydrate your skin for the cooler weather, this will also aid in flawless makeup application as we get closer to winter! For a facial moisturizer Rosie recommends Origins A Perfect World SPF 25 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea. This cream comes in two versions, one with SPF for the day and one without SPF for nighttime. It is full of antioxidants like white tea to keep your skin healthy and prevent premature aging.
