There comes a time in life when you need to let go of the past and embrace the future. As difficult as out with the old and in with the new can be, we like to think it's a little bit easier when marshmallows are involved. And in the case of beloved cereal Lucky Charms, marshmallows are precisely the main point of contention in this saga.
Just last week, General Mills announced it was retiring the hourglass marshmallow shape from the legendary Lucky Charms lineup to make way for a new mallow shape. Although the cereal-eating community had been kept in the dark with only a few hints on Instagram as to what the new addition to our morning bowls would be, we finally learned what the chosen mallow was. And let's just say, it's a magical—and trendy—pick.
Beginning in March, a new magical unicorn marshmallow shape will start making its way into boxes of Lucky Charms. We don't have to remind you that the mystical creature has been dominating everything from the food world to the makeup world for the past few years. And now it appears that your morning cereal is the unicorn's next claim!
The new marshmallow is shaped in the form of a unicorn's head and will join the seven other classic marshmallows (hearts, stars, horseshoes, clovers, blue moons, rainbows, and red balloons) that aren't going anywhere—yet. And although the unicorn is well on it's way to much-deserved domination, might we suggest taking a moment to remember memories of marshmallows past. So say your goodbyes to that hourglass mallow, Influensters. March will be here before you know it!
