Hey '90s, the '80s called and they're ready for their time to shine again. Although the '80s already make their comeback with the return of blue eyeshadow and mascara, the decade of MTV and neon colors is back in full force with the surprise return of the original energy drink, Jolt Cola.
Launched back in 1985, Jolt was tagged as America's first carbonated energy drink. With the iconic red can and lightening bolt logo, it was hard to miss a can of the drink. The re-launch of the '80s staple comes back after the brand went defunct in 2009. And for those curious if the formula remains the same. It indeed does.
As the drink's name claims, Jolt has "All the sugar and twice the caffeine." Here's how it compares to regular Coke: Jolt has the same grams of sugar as Coke but more than twice the amount of caffeine. CNET reports Jolt has 160 milligrams of caffeine compared to Coke's mere 45 milligrams. Is your heart racing yet? (No seriously, take a look at the brand's site and we guarantee you'll start fidgeting.)
You can shop Jolt for only $1 a can exclusively at Dollar General starting today.
