Yep, for your face.

In order to insure you're getting the most out of your skincare products, we're breaking down some basic and some totally weird ingredients found in your lotions and potions. In the past we've decoded coppercaffeinecharcoal, and blue tansy. This week, we're tackling an ingredient you've definitely heard of but probably never considered for your face.

The ingredient: sulfur

Also known as: pretty much just sulfur!

Quick take: Used for centuries as a skin healer (sulfur baths totally were a thing), sulfur is more likely found in acne treatments today.

Claims to fame: Probably the biggest thing to note about sulfur is the smell. Yes, it's not all a bed of roses, but this ingredient is so potent that you'll soon forget the stink and only care about the results. Sulfur is especially known for its ability to dry up excess oil and to kill bacteria. It can also exfoliate pores and unclog blackheads, making a true acne-fighting dream.
