I was dead on with the shade. It's the perfect shade for me. Combined with my concealer (Smashbox Photo Ready), it covered my scars. Even covered a stubborn eczema scar I have on my right cheek, that NO makeup had been able to cover before. I was out tonight, and noticed that under a very harsh light in a restroom, my face still looked flawless. I do have an oily t-zone, and I looked a bit shiny, but it was almost dewy, not overly oily. I just blotted it with a blotting paper and it went away - none of the foundation actually transferred.
I can't describe in any other way how impressed I am with this foundation! I used a dry oil and a primer on my face before I applied it. I buffed it on with this very dense Laura Geller kabuki-type brush and it came out perfect. I'm so so so happy!
Now that I've been using this product for a while, I can mention a few other things about it. It works the best when I use my Hot Pink BB cream as a primer. I use the BB, then my concealer, then my Studio Fix, then finish with just a tiny bit of HD powder across my nose and forehead, where my pores are largest. My skin looks incredible and you can't see any of my scars. The difference in appearance is dramatic. I love this foundation sooooo much and will continue to use it! I've noticed that I only use a small amount to achieve a flawless look, so it's definitely worth the price I paid too! I don't know how else to express my joy and love for this foundation. You just have to try it yourself. ...read more
I think this is a truly amazing product for the right person/purpose. My skin is oily, breakout-prone and I always hated the thought of liquid foundation on my skin. I survived all of my 20s wearing only concealer and a little powder on my skin. After having my daughter, my skin seemed to need a little extra help. I looked tired all the time and the hormone changes didn't do my skin any favors. I felt uneven and blotchy. I started using liquid foundation but I found that I was having breakouts almost every week. I even bought a dermatologist tool so I could extract my pores nightly after removing all the makeup. I had to wear more and more makeup to cover the blemishes and that caused me to have more blemishes. I just wanted something light and non pore-clogging with moderate coverage. Bare Minerals is the perfect product for that. It covers so much better than I expected, leaves my skin feeling flawless and glowing and I don't get super oily an hour after putting my makeup on like I used to. My breakouts have all cleared up after 2 days of using this product; My skin is probably the clearest it's been in over a year and feels super healthy and radiant. I don't know why I never really gave Bare Minerals a chance before but I'm so glad I finally did. ...read more
I normally use quite light coverage, powder foundation, but sometimes my skin looks a little worse, or there are days I just feel a little more self-concious about my skin, or want to look extra polishes - then I use this. I usually don't use it for long periods at a time though, as even with my most waterproof-makeup-removing makeup remover, this still seems to clog my pores up a little bit, and it's just not worth it
My skin type is dry, but I no sturize my skin very well, so it's almost never ever flaky - even during the winter. This CAN be used by those with dry skin, but moisturization is essential. If you have flaky skin, this makes it look bad - it then applies very patchy. My favorite method of application is a beauty blender, or a simple latex sponge (ca same thing, but harder to use). You have to work with this quite quickly, or it begins to dry and apply patchy
For me, the biggest problem was how this dries: it stays sticky! This is why I always have to powder this, which is quite a tricky thing to do well: if you drag a powderwd brush along this, it becomes patchy -_- My method is this to use a suuuuper soft brush that I can load up with powder and PAT around my face. Even though it seems like this should be perfect for oily skin, I strongly recommend to at least powder your T-zone, as this doesn't keep my oils at bay in these areas
Lastly: colour. I'm very yellow and quite light, and use NC15 in this. At first, it may seem as NC20 is the correct choice, but this oxidizes a lot, and it also oxidizes more and more in the bottle, the older it is. This might be quite a problem for some, but not for me personally, as I can adapt how light/datk it looks pretty well using bronzer
So, to sum up: this is not foolproof, but if you can work with it, it's a good, very long-lasting foundation. I like this better than Estee Lauder's Double Wear because it doesn't dehydrates my skin as much - DW is for skin that is oilier than mine. Pro-Longwear is the foundation that lasts the longest out of everything I've tried, without transferring much at all. Not an everyday foundation for me, but when I have it, I always know I'll be able to cover up really bad skin days :] ...read more
I preferred to use my own power brush by NATIO because the little soft pad thing that came with the pressed powder seemed to "suck up" all the powder leaving barley anything to go on your skin, which to me is a waste.
I purchased the 310 SUN BEIGE I have tanned olive skin and it suited me well, it looked every natural on my skin unless there was to much on my brush. There is a massive range of Maybelline colours or tones for you to choose from so it shouldn't be a big hassle once find your preferred colour or tone to match your skin.
I would recommend this product to anyone how isn't looking for a full face of makeup. To use it as a setting powder works well too.
