InfluenSTAR: Ashley Williams
Introducing Ashley Williams of YoursNaturally11 and @ashleynwilliams_ - our InfluenSTAR of the week! Ashley shared with Influenster how she became the go-to-girl for tress tutorials and the products that she can't live without. Read on to learn more about how this rising star grew her YouTube following and the beauty products she just can't live without!
How did you get started? Did you set out to grow your youtube subscribers and Instagram following or did it come more naturally?
I got started on YouTube when I began watching hair tutorials and realizing that I could also share my passion and ideas with everyone else. As I was learning, I began to develop an interest in teaching my own unique ideas, as well. As far as my subscribers and followers on YouTube and Instagram, I really never cared about the numbers, but more the feedback. As long as the majority of viewers love my content, then thats all that really matters to me.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own vlog?
My advice is to have passion first. Without passion, you won’t be consistent and consistency is key to all success. If you have passion, then you’re off to a good start. Be consistent, love and enjoy what you do and engage with your supporters.
Okay so I've got an amazing twist-out cocktail for yall. @tginatural Twist & Define Cream with TGIN Argan Replenishing Hair & Body Serum (my fav hair oil in life for real) but the trick is to put a little of the twist and define cream in your hands and then mix a little of the oil in it and rub your hands together THEN apply it to each section of hair that you're going to twist (one by one). You get a SUPER soft results with a medium hold and your hair will be very moisturized. I did this twist-out on dry hair but also l used the @qredew to moisten it a little more and give it some stretch and also to help the product penetrate into my hair to get the full effect of the products but you can most hot water onto your each section if you don't have a steamer. #TGIN #naturalhair #twistout
You're stranded on a deserted island (with WiFi - thank god!) and can only use ONE form of social media - what would be it? Why?
This is a toughie because I go between Instagram and YouTube all day. I’d say YouTube because there’s so much that one can learn on there. Im pretty sure I’d have a better chance at surviving with YouTube. :)
What are your must-have beauty products? Which are the ones you can't live without?
I can’t live without Coconut Oil. You can use it to cook, remove your makeup, and put it on your skin and hair. It's an all around amazing, natural beauty product that I think every girl should have. I also love and can’t live without NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu. Its super moisturizing, long-lasting and it's pinky nude color goes with almost every skin tone. I cant leave out hair because thats my passion - if I had to choose any product for my hair that I couldn’t live without, it’d be Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-in Conditioner. Its light-weight, moisturizing and keeps my curls healthy.
Where do you look for inspiration? Any accounts you're crushing on right now?
I really look up to Michelle Phan. She’s not only the Queen of YouTube but she’s so positive and passionate about what she does. She’s a hardworking woman and she’s gotten so far by pursuing what she truly loves. Her story is so inspirational and I think that she is a great role model for women of all ages. I’ve learned a lot from her.
