So, Exfoliator for Your Hair is a Thing

It all starts with the scalp...

IGK has been blowing our minds with their inventive products that frankly, we had no idea that we ever needed. (We're looking at you, Sold Out Priming Basecoat.) And their newest launch is another product that has us totally intrigued. The brand just launched the new Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub to tackle scalp health—and basically, exfoliate your hair. Curious as to what an exfoliator for your hair really means? Read on for the scoop.

Formulated with crushed walnut and walnut oil, this once-a-week cleanser acts just like your facial exfoliator to slough away dirt and irritations (think dead skin cells, excess product, sweat). And also just like your favorite exfoliator, Low Key relies on the physical exfoliating power of sugar to whisk away flaky skin.

Now, because your scalp is actually the source of your hair's health, Low Key also utilizes the power of good old Apple Cider Vinegar to cleanse and clarify. It also contains peppermint oil, which rebalances your scalps pH, and silica to help with the absorption of those nutrients found in peppermint oil. You'd treat your face and body to a deep exfoliation and cleanse, so why not your scalp?

As any scrub user knows, to get the most out of its exfoliating power, consistency is key. Use Low Key once a week in place of your shampoo. Apply a small amount to hairline and into the rest of the hair and then add water to lather up. Massage into the scalp until the exfoliants have dissolved fully.

IGK's Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub hit Sephora shelves (and online) today for $36. Like all IGK products, it's sulfate free, gluten free, color safe, provides UV and heat protection, is formulated without mineral oil or petroleum, and is vegetarian and cruelty free.
