How Drugstore Makeup Stacks Up to the Expensive Stuff
Why buy a $30 highlighter when you can spend under $10 for the same quality? Or is it the same quality? It's a struggle every makeup lover faces—drop big bucks on a star-worthy product or save your coins.
I decided to see for myself how the affordable stuff stacks up to splurge-worthy brands. I applied drugstore products to one half of my face and high-end products to the opposite side. Here’s what I noticed
Despite the extreme price difference, Airspun held up to the Laura Mercier powder. Airspun created a matte finish and kept my makeup looking fresh. Laura Mercier also held mymakeup in place all day. That said my pick for overall performance was Laura Mercier.

A highlight is an essential component of my daily makeup routine. The Maybelline Strobing Stick is easy to apply and the color is very illuminating. The Becca highlighter slides right on with one swipe and the highlight color is extremely pigmented.
Recommended: Either one!
Verdict: Comparable, go for the save
Applying a cream stick contour really helps define your cheekbones. The Colourpop and Tarte sticks both blend well and are very pigmented. Either product is a good buy based on preference.
Verdict: Different results
Finding the right mascara is extremely important. Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara is amazing. It provides the perfect amount of volume along with length. Love this product for a bold look. Roller Lash is also a favorite. Used more for a light layer, this product provides a long lash look that’s better for everyday.

The MAC foundation creates a flawless look leaving the skin smooth and natural-looking. But, the results from using both foundations were so simliar that I have to recommend saving your money and buying FitMe.
