How to Wear a Beanie Without Ruining Your Hair

How to Wear a Beanie Without Ruining Your Hair

The effortlessly cool beanie look is what we all strive for in the wintertime. Unfortunately, the only drawback is the messy hat hair we get in return. But, what if we started mastering the beanie look without actually messing up our ‘do? Don’t worry, we’re here to help you avoid that mane mishap (and static, too!). We’ve got all the hacks to keep you looking extra cozy ‘n cute this season.

Tip #1: Make sure your hair is completely dry before putting your beanie on.

Any dampness from your locks can easily cause your hair to take the shape of your hat. So, the easiest solution is to completely dry it before stepping out of the house with your beanie on.

PRO TIP: Spritz on heat protectant to keep your hair safe and healthy from the heat!

Tip #2: Style your hair for a va-va-voom look before drying.

Starting out with bouncy hair will prevent your hat from flattening your hair after. Use a leave-in volumizing product and blow it out with a round brush for that instant oomph!

Tip #3: Try wool or cotton beanies.

There’s nothing more irritating than staticky hair and, unfortunately, some hats with synthetic fibers do just that. Your best bet is to stick to wool or cotton beanies to steer clear of unnecessary static.

PRO TIP: Sometimes your hair is already staticky. In which case, rub dryer sheets on your hair! (Yes, the urban legend is true!)

Tip #4: Make the beanie loose.

Your hair needs a little breathing room! Loosen up the beanie a bit. If you feel like it’s sliding off, pop in some bobby pins!

Tip #5: Have dry shampoo on hand!

Just in case your hair does fall flat toward the end of the day, spritz a bit of dry shampoo on your scalp to build more volume. Flip your head over and comb your hair with your fingers. But, make sure they’re clean so you don’t add unnecessary excess oil!
