Beauty 101: Hydrating Hair Masks
We all strive for better hair and often times go to extreme measures in order to do so. Occasionally, we forget how all the chemicals from product upon product can build up over time in our roots, resulting in major dullness and damage. It’s time we start giving our strands the TLC they deserve! We’re breaking down exactly what hair masks are and why they’re totally necessary.
The scoop: Don’t confuse this with your nightly conditioner, hair masks are a bit more intense and should be left on for anywhere from three to 15 minutes–sometimes even overnight if you need a major detox!
How it works: Similar to how you need a healthy eating cleanse after a weekend of indulging, hair masks essentially do the same thing–but to your locks! It’s a fast and easy way to bring the moisture and nourishment back into your hair.
How to use a hair mask:
1. Apply a hair mask between your shampoo and conditioner.
2. Apply the mask to the ends of your hair–that’s typically where the most damage occurs.
3. After applying the mask, use a comb to evenly distribute the product throughout your strands.
4. Once your time is up (it varies for products), rinse it out and apply conditioner.
