‘Tis the season for runny noses, annoying coughs, tickly throats, cloudy heads, and headaches. We all know that feeling when we’re about to get really sick. Here are some steps you can take as soon as you get that “funny feeling” to stop a cold dead in its tracks.
Hydrate: Remember all the times when your doctor said to drink plenty of fluids? Well now is the time to drink plenty of water and liquids to get help get rid of that sore throat and stuffy nose.
Gargle Salt Water: Mix salt and warm water in a cup and gargle it in the back of your throat. This helps reduce inflammation and mucous build up in your throat.
Take a hot shower: Not only will this help soothe your body, but the steam will help clear your nasal passages.
Honey: Studies show that honey is better than almost anything else you can pick up at the drug store to soothe your throat and cure that cough. Forget the syrups, cough drops, and sprays and have your self a sweet little treat. We like mixing honey in our tea!
Light Exercise: A little walk can boost your immune system and lighten up your mood. Try keeping your heart rate under 100.
REST AND SLEEP: There is no better treatment than getting enough rest and sleep so that your body can work to fight off those nasty viruses.
