How To: Get Day Curls With a Straightener
Since we are all trying to find different routines that work within our schedule and our day to day activities, I thought I would share my favorite way to get ready when I know I'll have a busy day or week--straightener curls and simple makeup! It may seem weird that I curl my hair with a straightener, but this is the quickest and best way I have found to do my hair and have it last all day and most of the time into a second day (cue the dry shampoo, friends). If you have never heard of this craziness, consider your hair routine world changed and continue on for how to achieve my super-easy look that lasts all day!
First, be sure to prepare your hair. You should always make sure that you are using a shampoo and conditioner that works well with your hair, but be sure to take special care when you know you are going to be using heat. Once you hair is washed and ready to go, just blow dry like normal and plug in your straightener to heat up!
Once your straightener is ready, get ready for the kinda-sorta-confusing part. I have done my best to show you each step, but it can get a little confusing your first few times. I recommend practicing a few times with your straightener off so you can really get an idea of how it is supposed to go. It can feel a little awkward at first, but don't give up!
*Note: If your hair is shorter, curling this way may produce a more "kinky" curl than what it does with my hair. The slower you pull the straightener down your strand of hair, the tighter your curl will be. The same is for thickness of strand--the smaller the strand, the tighter the curl.
Then, you should get something that looks a little like this:
