We'll be the first to admit that if we spot a new beauty trend on Instagram during one of our nightly feed scrolls, we're so down to try it. (The Internet is usually right, amirite, or amirite?) So when we saw a number of beauty bloggers and makeup artists trying out the halo eye makeup trend, we knew we had to learn what this was all about.
What it is: In the past, halo eyes has been referred to "spotlight eyes" or even "sandwiching!" Basically, it's a new version of the smokey eye, in which instead of a dark charcoal or blue shade, you use a peachy or pink color to cover your lids and the lower lash line to give a true "halo" effect.
How to do it: Choose your eyeshadow color of choice (we're into a champagne or gold shimmer, personally, but you do you!) and glaze it over your eye lid to the crease. (Use a shadow primer prior to ensure the longevity of your lewk.) Then take a thin shadow brush and delicately sweep the color under your lower lash line to "sandwich" your eyes in color. Add a little mascara and you're good to go.
What you'll need: Clearly, the most important part of making this look a success is the eyeshadow palette. Right now we're all about the sunset hues—gold, pink, orange, and champagne. So beachy. In addition, we recommend a subtle highlighter to dab a bit of shimmer around your lids. (Hey, it's not called halo for nothing!) Lastly, a fluttering, lightweight mascara is a must.
