Is spot cleaning your brushes just not cutting it anymore? We’ve all been there. It's all too easy to use your favorite tools day-after-day without a thought to what might be lurking beneath the bristles. But, with a DIY routine as easy and safe as this one, it's time to give your brushes the TLC they deserve.

What You Need:

Antibacterial Soap

Olive Oil

Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat (Optional)

Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat

Getting Started:

1. Mix ingredients: Begin by combining two parts antibacterial soap to one part of olive oil. The antibacterial soap works to deep clean bristles while the olive oil replenishes and moisture stripped by the cleaning process.

2. Dampen brush: Run the makeup brush under lukewarm water, avoiding the ferrule, which is the metal part of the brush attaching the bristles to the handle.

3. Clean bristles: Dip bristles lightly into mixture and work into a flat surface such as your palm. This is when the Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Mat comes in handy. This cleaning mat has a rubber surface with multiple textures which makes cleaning the brushes very easy and will save your hands a lot of work.

4. Rinse and dry: Wash brushes thoroughly but gently. To dry, lay them on a towel on a flat surface with the bristles hanging over the edge. This allows brushes to dry without damaging the ferrule.
