Sometimes you get exactly what you want. This would be one of those times, America. Heinz asked of fans of a duo of mayonnaise and ketchup if they would like to see their dream concoction finally packaged into a real condiment to launch later this year. America's answer, to no surprise, was a big ole, "Yes!"
The duo is really nothing new to many sauce lovers. You may know it at Thousand Island or Russian Dressing, but really it's just mayo and ketchup mixed for a bit of a tomato-y tang. But the real debate isn't whether this condiment should be made (clearly, it should), but rather, what should it be called?
Right now, Heinz is lovingly referring to it as "Mayochup," but the sauce gurus are not convinced. In fact, Heinz is even letting foodies take to Twitter to debate the topic and sound off on their pick for the final name. (Personally, this editor is team Katchoyanaise—just sounds fancy!) But, only time will tell what the final name of this duo will be.
Of course, you can always continue to make your own version—if that's been your kind of thing all along. own perfect blend using ketchup and mayonnaise. Simply, mix the ketchup and the mayo, and, well we think you can take it from here!
What do you think of Mayochup? Are you on board? And which name would you prefer? Sound off below!
