Guide to At-Home Beach Hair: Part One
Summer is all about effortless hair and as far as trends go, beachy waves have certainly stood the test of time. Instead of throwing your hair up in a bun or flat-ironing the life out of it, try some of these tips and products that will give you perfect beach hair. If we’ve learned anything from salt-dried hair, it’s that you’re going to need a lot more than a towel to maintain perfect beachy locks.
1. The Expert Trick: Spaghetti Hair
If hair guru Oscar Blandi recommends it, we certainly have no woes. Rather than the age-old trick of sleeping with braids in, Blandi recommends going al dente with your hair this summer. In an interview, the native Italian suggested using a fork to twist wet hair like spaghetti and then pull out. To maintain this curly-do, Blandi recommended using a diffuser. The result? An at-home beach look.
2. The Product Trick: A Cocktail
Celeb hairstylist Marcus Francis recommends mixing several products to get authentic beach hair feel. Instead of just using volumizer or a salt spray, Francis suggest starting with a good salt spray and giving it texture with dry shampoo. I recommend using John Masters Organics SeaMist.
3.The DIY Trick: Salt Spray
Color expert Christophe Robin takes a DIY approach to master beachy hair, and suggests combining hair oil, water, and salt into a spray bottle. The nourishing oil balances out the dryness youget from salt water. The result? A hydrated, fresh off the ocean look. We suggest combining Eva NYC ‘Hungry Hair’ Oil with kitchen salt and water.
Case in point, you don’t need sand and salt air to get perfect beach hair. So, which products will you use to get beachy waves? Tell us in the comments below!
