Get the Look: Straight off the Runway from DVF
New York Fashion Week is in full swing here in Manhattan (squeal!!!), and the top names are showcasing their latest looks for Spring/Summer 2016. Diane Von Furstenberg turned up the heat with her tropical DVF Spring 2016 runway show, a celebration of nature, freedom and beauty named for the Roman goddess of fate, Fortuna.
The DVF Studio was a powerhouse, armed with an iconic model lineup including the likes of the Hadid sisters, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn, Lily Aldrige, Karlie Kloss, and Irina Skyak. As the models emerged from backstage and walked down the catwalk, audience members were captivated by the tropical ambiance and rich colors. Each model donned long soft curls with striking, blue-green eye makeup and handmade floral hairpieces to tie together the sultry getaway look.
Now, whether you’re curling your toes on your island vacation or strutting down the city streets, you can rock the same look as these top models for a fraction of the price with these drugstore dupes!
Getting the Look: Face
To create the enchanting blue and green eye look, Pat McGrath’s makeup team worked with shimmering palettes for blending metallic blue and green eyeshadow colors. Pat recalls, “We used blue shimmer eyeshadow close to the lashes and pale green all the way around the eye. Tons of mascara on the top and bottom lashes. Very fresh, glowing skin, blush on the cheeks, nude balm on the lips. Eyebrows groomed to perfection, and a bit of highlight on the cheekbones. Gorgeous!”
Here’s what you’ll need to achieve the same ethereal eye makeup as DVF’s lineup:
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quad in Gutsy Green | Maybelline EyeStudio Color Explosion Luminizing Eyeshadow in Blue Blowout | NYX Roll On Eye Shimmer in Green | Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara
To complete the face, opt for products that’ll give your skin a bronzed, sun-kissed glow:
Getting the Look: Hair
Hair stylist extraordinaire, Orlando Pita was inspired by Diane herself, he explained, when he started creating the Spring ’16 runway look. “There was this picture of her, with curly hair and a flower,” Pita says. It was from one of her first nights at Studio 54, with her now husband Barry Diller, and Pita wanted to channel the wild curls with a deep side part.
To nail the glamorous curls, use a ¾” curling iron and use a flat brush to soften them into cascading waves. Secure the hair with hairspray and TRESemmé Make Waves gel, as recommended by Pita himself.
Sadly, you can't steal the beautiful floral hairpieces off the runway, BUT you can learn to make your own with this helpful flower crown DIY!
