Fruit-Inspired Makeup is a New Trend We Can Totally Get Behind
So far, 2018's big beauty trends have been ones we're pretty on board with—jelly skincare, prismatic makeup, and frosty lip gloss, we're looking at you. But, the most recent trend that we've spotted is probably the one we're most excited for because it combines two of our favorite things in life: makeup and food. By now, foodie-inspired makeup isn't exactly earth shattering. (Influensters already know Too Faced has their fan-favorite Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette.) But we're seeing the sweet theme take on a new fruity twist this spring. And we're eating it up.
Sweet-themed makeup is popping up everywhere this spring. And, we're only expecting it to take off through summer. First, we spotted fruit-inspired makeup with Maybelline's long-awaited Lemondade Craze palette ($10.98 at Amazon). The 12-shade, warm palette took over our Instagram feed for its variety of shades. From its warm neutrals to deep rouges and various shimmer and matte finishes, this is one palette that had us excited for summer long before spring was even upon us.
But that was only the tip of the iceberg. Next, up L'Oréal also heard our grumbling stomachs and answered with another sweet treat palette. This time, it's all about the cherries. The new Cherry My Cheri Eyeshadow Palette ($11.97, Amazon) is a 12-shade palette that's all about that pink life. The rose-tinted shadows come in classic neutrals and rich highlight and accent shades that rival palettes more than double this drugstore price tag. And, what's more, this new cherry-inspired palette actually smells like cherries. Summer, is that you?
And did we mention there's more? This next fruit-inspired makeup launch has a bit of a dessert twist. But trust us, it's all summertime, all the way. BECCA's new Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Dreamsicle ($38, Sephora) is our summer dream in a highlighter form. The tangerine-hued highlighter that swirls gold and vanilla into the rich orange shade. The shimmering highlighter boasts the natural, creamy feel of BECCA's other products just with a bright and cheerful color that works wonders on a number of skin tones.
And these are only the beginnings. We're expecting (should we say, hoping) to see much more fruit-inspired sweet treats coming this spring and summer. Because after all, when you blend foodie love and makeup love, it's truly a beautiful thing!
