Feel Good Fall To-Dos

Share Tweet

While a giving heart is a trend year round, it's appreciated even more during the holiday season. There are so many who are in need and we've gathered a few on how to give back.

Cleanse Your Closet

We all have a lot of clothes that we haven’t worn in years. If your closet is feeling a little overstuffed, set aside a day or a couple of hours to clean it out and make a donation pile. Donate those gently used items to your local homeless shelter or a womens' shelter for those that need them much more than you do.

Holiday Cheer to Our Heroes

There are so many amazing men and woman who are deployed over the holidays without the opportunity to be with their loved ones. Never underestimate the power of a heartfelt greeting card. You can make their spirits bright by sending a thoughtful card through the Red Cross’ Holiday Mail for Heroes program. Make a party out of it and invite your friends for some card creating fun!

Clean Out Your Pantry

You probably have more than a few canned goods that have yet to see the light of day. Do a pantry sweep and drop off those unused goods to your local food bank to help feed families in need. Feeding America is a good resource and can help you locate a food bank close to you.

Random Acts of Kindness

Showing kindness doesn’t always involve a grand gesture. Look for a few opportunities that show your appreciation and generosity to people in your community. This could mean paying for the person behind you at a drive-thru, leaving a generous tip for the waiter/waitress, or volunteering at your local food bank. You never know how something so small can impact a person’s day in a major way.
